This book is a combination of Thomas Vincent’s last two known works, one of which is a sermon entitled, “The Only Deliverer from Wrath to Come,” and the other is a book called, “Words Whereby We May be Saved.” The sermon covers 1 Thessalonians 1:10, “Even Jesus which delivered us from the wrath to come.” Vincent demonstrates that 1) there is evidence of this second coming of Jesus Christ, and, 2) the ground of their hope and comfortable expectation and waiting for this coming in the text is because Jesus had delivered them from the wrath to come. The second work is a book on salvation covering 1. Words to try people whether they are in a state of salvation. 2. Words to move people to endeavor after salvation. And, 3. Words to guide people in the way to attain salvation. Also included are Vincent’s sayings which were a collection of quotations taken out of his writings published separately after his death. This is not a scan or facsimile, and has been updated in modern English for easy reading. It also has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Thomas Vincent (1634-1678) was an English Puritan minister and author in England when such a stance meant suffering and persecution at the hands of the government. In typical Puritan style, Vincent covers all pertinent aspects of the issue of God's wrath and Christ's deliverance for his people: What this wrath is The certainty of God's wrath Upon whom this wrath will come When this wrath will come Who this Jesus is, who delivers from wrath How Jesus delivers from wrath Who will experience this deliverance

Most contemporary Christians acknowledge the doctrine of hell, but they’d rather not think about how God punishes the wicked. The authors of Four Views on Hell meet this subject head-on with different views on what the Scriptures say. Is hell to be understood literally as a place of eternal smoke and flames? Or are such images simply metaphors for a real but different form of punishment? Is there such a thing as “conditional immortality,” in which God annihilates the souls of the wicked rather than punishing them endlessly? Is there a Purgatory, and if so, how does it fit into the picture? The interactive Counterpoints forum allows the reader to see the four views on hell—literal, metaphorical, conditional, and purgatorial—in interaction with each other. Each view in turn is presented, critiqued, and defended. This evenhanded approach is ideal for comparing and contrasting views in order to form a personal conclusion about one of Christianity’s key doctrines. The Counterpoints series provides a forum for comparison and critique of different views on issues important to Christians. Counterpoints books address two categories: Church Life and Bible and Theology. Complete your library with other books in the Counterpoints series.

A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Do you long for a closer relationship to the Savior Jesus Christ? Do you desire a more intimate communion with God each day? Every true Christian does. The purpose of this volume in the "5 Marks Series" is to cover the spiritual disciplines housed in private devotions and family worship. It is a study on how the biblical doctrines of reading Scripture, prayer and godly meditation practically work in the life of the believer. These spiritual disciplines will help further conform them into the image of their only Savior Jesus Christ, both individually pressing them towards a godly reformation, and also to reform the family as a Christian household. It is to come to know God in a deeper and more intimate manner, and to be empowered by the Spirit of God for the glory of Christ. This work covers the following five marks of devotion to God: Mark 1: Daily Bible Reading and Study Mark 2: Daily Meditation Mark 3: Daily Prayer Mark 4: Fasting Mark 5: Family Worship

In this newly published, but rare work, Strong covers the doctrine of eternal punishment. The doctrine of hell is one of the most unpopular, hated and feared teachings in the Bible. The thought of people burning in hell for eternity is repugnant to the depraved human mind. William Strong treats not only the biblical doctrine of “the certainty and eternity of hell torments,” but also how the conscience works in conjunction with hell upon damned souls. He deals with the description of hell, conscience as a worm in hell, the eternal nature of a hopeless hell and how to escape hell through Jesus Christ. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.
