During the previous year ending 30th September, 1898, there were 759 received, and during the past year ending on like date, there were 711, or a decrease of 48. For the past ten years the average annual admissions have numbered 783, or 72 more than during the year under report. This reduced number of admissions can in a measure be accounted for by the larger number remaining in charge elsewhere than in the Provincia asylums.
