The research purpose of this book is to advance the reform of the existing international monetary system through the establishment of a new international currency standard that is a super-sovereign currency. International Monetary System provides international economic activities rules for the human society. It has significant influences not only on international economic activities of various countries but also on their domestic economic activities as well. Since the disintegration of International gold standard in 1971, studies on reform of international monetary system have remained as the important research themes for international economic research fields. Improvements of international monetary system to facilitate worldwide economic developments have been interests to all. Thus this book has valuable theoretical contributions. Since the collapse of Bretton Woods System, the current international monetary system of Jamaica System has come into being. Under Jamaica System, the sovereign currency US dollar has acted as the main international currency. This has caused vulnerability of money standard, instability of exchange rate system, and frequent occurrences of currency crises. Calls for international monetary system reforms have increased under these circumstances. Various programs such as improved international gold standard system, expansion of Special Drawing Rights, as well as establishment of single world currency surface. So this book has significant practical contributions as well. The major contribution of this book is the proposal of new scheme of establishment of supra-sovereign international currency. This is an entire new reform program that differs significantly from any past or current reform programs in international economic research fields from all over the world.

This text is designed to establish an understanding of the fundamentals of currency. It provides a cursory overview of the international Monetary System of which currency is the core. To enhance the readers’ foundation, the second phase of the text provides an explanation of how and why the International Monetary Fund was established. That formation is tracked from initial formation of a fixed par value to our modern day system of floating exchange rates. With those fundamentals established, a presentation is provided to enable the reader to entertain the basic functioning of currency in the context of a global setting; the functioning of domestic international markets and external-Eurocurrency markets. That function process introduces sovereign and credit risks that accompany currency in the International Monetary System. A brief but concise presentation is provided to the reader to explain the source of these risks and the reason. Lastly, currency in itself has taxable transaction features. In a global setting it necessitates recognition of a means to manage those risks inherent in global trade, external currency markets, and capital investment. The US dollar and the euro are not true international currencies, but the currencies of the United States and the Euro, which are “adopted” into international currencies. We designed a truly international currency that is controlled jointly by all (member) countries in the world in a democratic and decentralized manner. The name of the system is organic. The organic system issues an international currency called organic currency. The organic currency is only for international transactions between member countries. Meanwhile, domestic transactions still use their respective national currencies. This system can provide international currency and FX reserves to all (member) countries in the world for free. This system can free all countries from government foreign debt, maintain a balance of payments, make the international monetary system stable, and eliminate the monetary crisis from its roots. This system can start from a small scale, such as ASEAN, South Asia, East Asia, Middle East, Latin America, East Africa, West, Central, and other regions. Unlike the Euro model, this system does not require economic integration. So all countries in the world can join in their condition as they are. In this third edition book, we deepen the theory, improve the plot, sharpen the analysis, add examples, remove some less essential parts, and add references to raise academic standards. We maintain a very simple writing system, easy to read, accompanied by empirical examples and easy-to-understand illustrations. We want the discussion of the international economic and monetary system to be “friendly” for all and “not scary”. We avoid very technical terms. Even if there are, we always provide very simple explanations and illustrations. Everyone can read this book. Because international currency is of public interest. Every individual on earth has the right to know clearly.
