The LNCS journal Transactions on Computational Science reflects recent developments in the field of Computational Science, conceiving the field not as a mere ancillary science but rather as an innovative approach supporting many other scientific disciplines. The journal focuses on original high-quality research in the realm of computational science in parallel and distributed environments, encompassing the facilitating theoretical foundations and the applications of large-scale computations and massive data processing. It addresses researchers and practitioners in areas ranging from aerospace to biochemistry, from electronics to geosciences, from mathematics to software architecture, presenting verifiable computational methods, findings, and solutions, and enabling industrial users to apply techniques of leading-edge, large-scale, high performance computational methods. This, the 28th issue of the Transactions on Computational Science journal, is comprised of extended versions of selected papers from the International Conference on Cyberworlds, CyberWorlds 2015, held in Gotland, Sweden, in October 2015. The first paper is a position paper, presenting open problems and identifying future directions within the domain. The remaining 8 papers focus on a range of topics, including virtual reality, games, haptic modeling, cybersecurity, brain wave analysis, shape parameterization, projects, and data mining.

These transactions publish research in computer-based methods of computational collective intelligence (CCI) and their applications in a wide range of fields such as the semantic Web, social networks, and multi-agent systems. TCCI strives to cover new methodological, theoretical and practical aspects of CCI understood as the form of intelligence that emerges from the collaboration and competition of many individuals (artificial and/or natural). The application of multiple computational intelligence technologies, such as fuzzy systems, evolutionary computation, neural systems, consensus theory, etc., aims to support human and other collective intelligence and to create new forms of CCI in natural and/or artificial systems. This twenty-eight issue is a special issue with 11 selected papers from the International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence, ICAART 2016 and 2017 editions.

The sixth volume of the Transactions on Computational Science journal contains the thoroughly refereed best papers selected from the International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications, ICCSA 2008. All 21 papers included in the issue have been significantly revised and extended following the event. The journal has been divided into two parts. The 11 papers in Part 1 are devoted to the theme of information systems and communications and the 10 papers in Part 2 focus on geographical analysis and geometric modeling.

Concurrent Engineering is based on the concept that different phases of a product life cycle should be conducted concurrently and initiated as early as possible within the Product Creation Process (PCP). Denotational mathematics, as a counterpart of conventional analytic mathematics, is a category of expressive mathematical structures that deals with high-level mathematical entities beyond numbers and sets, such as abstract objects, complex relations, behavioral information, concepts, knowledge, processes, granules, and systems. This volume includes 12 papers covering the following four important areas: foundations and applications of denotational mathematics; rough and fuzzy set theories; granular computing; and knowledge and information modeling.

This, the 29th issue of the Transactions on Computational Science journal, is comprised of seven full papers focusing on the area of secure communication. Topics covered include weak radio signals, efficient circuits, multiple antenna sensing techniques, modes of inter-computer communication and fault types, geometric meshes, and big data processing in distributed environments.
