Trends In U S Fertilizer Technology

The main purpose of this paper is to characterize U.S. fertilizer technology in the late 1970's. The industry has largely developed over the past century and has experienced major changes in recent years particularly since about 1950.

This evaluation identifies and quantifies many specific benefits of the TVA fertilizer program. These benefits will continue to accumulate. The study also shows that there are current and future opportunities for developing and introducing technologies whose impact on the fertilizer industry, the Nation's farms, and the national economy will be as great as the impact of developments in past years.
