A Child's Garden of Verses is a collection of poetry for children by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson. The collection first appeared in 1885 under the title Penny Whistles, but has been reprinted many times, often in illustrated versions. It contains about 65 poems including the cherished classics "Foreign Children," "The Lamplighter," "The Land of Counterpane," "Bed in Summer," "My Shadow" and "The Swing." The classical scholar Terrot Reaveley Glover published a translation of the poems into Latin in 1922 under the title Carmina non prius audita de ludis et hortis virginibus puerisque.

The Poet's Garden of Verses is a personal collection of inspirational and uplifting poetry that employs various poetic styles. Some of the poems are humorous, some philosophical, and others a practical guide to life. The book is divided into sections, i.e., Garden of Inspiration, Perennials, Children's Garden, Special Places, and a Bonzai Garden of traditional haiku and senryu poetry selections.

Liu Zongyuan's remarkable poetry reflects the complex experience of political exile and observes the natural world of his new home in South China with a caring eye. The Poetic Garden of Liu Zongyuan presents poems by the Tang Dynasty cofounder of the Classical Prose Movement written on the Chinese empire’s southern margins. After so many years, time is ripe. Many flowers have blossomed in my garden and others have slowly wilted. I found beauty in both and decided to gather my thoughts as nature wants. Childhood memories have accompanied me shedding light on my path and nurturing my grounds . My passage from the "New World" to the "Old World" has enriched my life. There is no regret because there was actually no leaving and no arriving. The simple joy of life is what I am inspired by: nature, love for mankind and respect for myself. May all my readers find in my verses and pictures something familiar to cherish and remember along the way.
