Walking On Jersey

Guidebook describing 24 coastal and inland walks on the island of Jersey, ranging from 4.5km (3 miles) to 12.5km (8 miles) in length. Almost all of the walks link directly with one or two other walks, allowing all kinds of extensions to the route. The walks can also be joined together to create the 80km (50 mile) Jersey Coastal Walk, part of the Channel Island Way. The walks use good paths and tracks as well as quiet country roads. Occasional more rugged paths explore the island's excellent cliff coastline. Jersey has an excellent bus network and the walks can be accessed by public transport. There are also plenty of opportunities for refreshment, details of which are provided in the text. Clear step-by-step route description is illustrated with States of Jersey 1:25,000 mapping (very similar in style to British OS mapping), and route statistics and a summary table make it easy to choose the ideal walk. Famous for sunshine, year-round walking, history and a wonderful coastline, Jersey is an intriguing destination for travellers. This guide is designed to take visitors away from the tourist centres of Jersey and out into the countryside, exploring by private or public transport or on foot

Raad ny Foillan (The Way of the Gull) is a 98 mile footpath around the Isle of Man. The route description is set out as a circuit and split into stages, with the longest walk being 15.5 miles and the shortest being 7 miles. Any fast walkers may wish to complete two stages per day, while those progressing at a more leisurely pace may decide to amble along and take in the splendid attractions along the way. Two further walks described in this guidebook, the 23 mile Millennium Way, which follows the ancient route of the kings, from Ramsey to Castletown, and the 14 mile Herring Way, which takes a more traditional route from Peel to Castletown. Both these routes cross the hills of the island's interior and can be combined to make an interesting longer walk.
