Only in Minnesota is a pictorial tribute to all that makes the state unique. Combining the natural, historical, and cultural facets of life in Minnesota, it showcases the people and what they do for fun (the Uptown Art Fair, ice fishing), where they live (from the cities of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, and Rochester to smaller towns and rural regions in between), their favorite places (Mille Lacs, Split Rock Lighthouse), and more. More than 160 dazzling, four-color photographs, showing a variety of subjects--from farms and churches to tourist destinations and state parks; from nature scenes to city festivals and cultural events--are the focus of Only in Minnesota. These photographs are accented by lively captions and fun facts. The result is a homage to the Gopher state from a local author and photographer whose love for Minnesota comes through on every page. Roxanne Kjarum is a freelance photographer who shoots advertising for money and the natural world for love. Her first published work was in Sierra Club magazine in 1988; since then her photography has appeared in numerous publications, including MPLS.ST.PAUL Magazine, Lake Superior Magazine, and Metropolitan Home.

To ensure that a driver's license is revoked promptly when a test shows an alcohol concentration of 0.10 or more, regardless of court outcome or plea bargaining on the criminal charge, Minnesota adopted an administrative revocation law 1976, adding to the conventional implied consent revocation for refusing to take the test. This law was unique to Minnesota until 1981 when two other jurisdictions passed similar laws. In 1982 three more, and in 1983 thirteen more states established similar prompt revocation on test result systems. The author describes the Minnesota law as amended in 1982 and discusses legal and constitutional issues. Effect on apprehension rates, swiftness of sanction, deterrence and perceived risk are analyzed. The author concludes that a two-track DWI control system employing both prompt administrative driver license sanctions on one track and conventional court action on a related but not directly connected parallel criminal track enhances deterrence through more certain, swift penalty, perceived by drivers as severe.

"Walnut Station, and later Walnut Grove, did not exist as a village at the time of the Civil War, (more often at that time referred to as the War of the Rebellion). However, the soldiers that fought in this bloody affair from 1861-1865 helped build Walnut Grove and the surrounding vicinity ... This booklet will focus only on a few of the early soldiers that helped build Walnut Station -- Walnut Grove ... They are Elias Bedal, Charles Loring Webber, Rev. Leonard Hathway Moses, Byron Mordant Knight, Frederick Fayette Goff, Jacob Thode Tillisch and John Bernard Leo."--Page 2
