When Ishi, "the last wild Indian," came out of hiding in August 1911, he was quickly whisked away by train to San Francisco to meet Alfred Kroeber, one of the fathers of American anthropology. Because of the differing beliefs on how Australia should be governed in the future, the country splits in two separate nations—to the south, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia becoming known as Greater Australia, and Queensland the Northern Territory and Western Australia, Northern Australia.
