Gappu, the central character finds himself into huge trouble when his uncle goes missing out of his own negligence. He fears the police and the world, otherwise. All he could do was to sleep and invite unbecoming nightmares, like never before. That dreadful night, when the darkness put upon the sky and he dozed off to deep sleep, an odd revelation comes his way helping him flee far from the travails. He wakes up the other day, very early in the morning and runs away to a cave he had seen the last night in the nightmare. And walking further inside, he discovers a huge pot, which he thought would better his situation off though it adds to his trouble when he becomes a full-blooded wizard, unconsciously. He meets another wizard – Romeos, and spends his first Spring of wonders though weird with the new friend. Gappu does not like to be a wizard by choice. In the new avatar, made impulsive and sinewy, he sets out on a trail of adventures away from the daily drudgery of his earlier life as a potbellied, dull student. Up and out in the new world, he deeply appreciates the fine purpose to live for, the need of warm friendship, lessons of courage and unity and rare feeling of love and humility.

Get ready for a wondrous trip through the Great Cloak. In his infinite wonder and joy, the Great Wizard expands his Cloak and releases his joyous essence into the billions of galaxies, creating the universe. He creates other beings who are similar to him, but none is quite like him. He longs for the company of another with whom he can revel in wonder and continue creating—a gift he ultimately grants himself. Ophious, one of the creations closest to him, eavesdrops in on the conversations of the now two Great Wizards and soon finds himself feeling left out and jealous of the powers of creation held by the Great Wizards. Ophious sets out to find beings that are gullible and easily influenced. He quickly convinces them to combine energies and create their own special star, where he capitalizes on their insecurities and fears further manipulating them, thereby bringing about greater envy and hate among his followers. Amid the uncertainty, love attempts to come to the rescue in the form of Joshua, the fish, and his friends. Joshua, full of love and hope, can access the powers of the Great Cloak and longs to return the love and hope to the lost. Ophious inevitably conspires against him, leading to Joshua’s betrayal. Through much patience, many trials, and a great deal of tribulation, Joshua eventually convinces those who once persecuted and betrayed him that they were a part of the Great Cloak all along.

Two teen wizards embark on an alien exchange program in this “hilarious and scary” adventure from the author of A Wizard Alone (Booklist). Rest and relaxation—that’s what Nita Callahan thinks she’s going to get when she and her partner-wizard Kit Rodriguez go on a “cultural exchange” program. But nothing about wizardry—not even vacation—is ever quite that simple! Number one: They’re headed to a planet that may be just a bit too perfect. Number two: Nita’s sister Dairine must host a trio of alien guests here on Earth. Number three: The culture clashes that ensue could have devastating consequences—for both planets! In her latest collection of essays and lectures, Homage to Americans, Eva Brann explores the roots and essence of our American ways. In “Mile-high Meditations,” her flight’s late departure from the Denver airport prompts a consideration of her manner of waiting (i.e.,“being”). As she looks around, she notes (and compares to her own) the ways her fellow travelers pass their time. These observations lead her to wonder how each of us lives with ourselves and how we live together—and put up with one another. With these questions in mind, the next two essays carefully examine two famous political documents that have shaped American self-understanding: James Madison’s “Memorial and Remonstrance,” which is the essential argument for separation of church and state; and Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, which enlarged and refashioned our understanding of the American political character, first given formal expression in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. In “Paradox of Obedience,” a lecture delivered at the Air Force Academy, Brann considers the puzzling character of obedience in a country dedicated to liberty. The concluding piece, “The Empire of the Sun and the West,” takes us to Aztec Mexico at the time of the Spanish conquest. What allowed Cortes and his handful of men to overcome a great empire? In pursuit of an answer, Brann describes a human type whose fulfillment she sees in the American character.

2020 American Fiction Award Winner! Welcome to Tandara, where gods are fickle, nightmares are real, and trolls make excellent bakers . . . Raine Stewart is convinced she’ll die young and alone in Alabama, the victim of a chronic, mysterious illness. Until a man in a shabby cloak steps out of her mirror and demands her help to defeat a bloodthirsty wizard. Raine shrugs it off as a hallucination—just one more insult from her failing body—and orders her intruder to take a hike. But the handsome figment of her imagination won’t take no for an answer, and kidnaps her anyway, launching her into a world of utmost danger—and urgent purpose. Ruled by unpredictable gods and unstable nations, Tandara is a land of shapeshifters and weather-workers, queens and legends. Ravenous monsters and greedy bounty hunters patrol unforgiving mountains. Riverboats pulled by sea-cattle trade down broad waterways. And creatures of nightmare stalk Raine herself, vicious in the pursuit of her blood. But Raine isn’t helpless or alone. She’s part of a band as resourceful as it is odd: a mage-shy warrior, a tattered wizard, a tenderhearted giant, and a prickly troll sorceress. Her new friends swear she has powers of her own. If she can stay under their protection, she might just live long enough to find out . . .
