Yours Is the Kingdom is a compilation of stories taken exclusively from the Scriptures of the Holy Bible. It is a story of a king, His Kingdom, and an invitation to become a member of His royal family. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. He intended for Earth to become a territory and a replica of Heaven. Jesus refers to this when He taught us to pray "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven." God created man in His image to have dominion over the earth. Adam and Eve enjoyed a very special fellowship with God and His Presence was with them in the garden. Everything they needed was provided. Satan's deception caused mankind to lose dominion. Consequently, Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden and Satan's evil influence began to rule on earth. Yet the Lord God had a plan of redemption and restoration. His plans of triumph were ordained before the foundations of the world and prophesied throughout the Bible. God chose the family line of Abraham to bring a Savior, Jesus, into this world. The stories of Abraham's family recount a series of lessons in triumph and defeat, obedience and rebellion, and of promise and restoration. Jesus came to restore the dominion of the Kingdom of God to Earth. Through the pages of this book, the love of God for His creation and His desire to live among us unfolds. Jesus redeems mankind to their original relationship with the Almighty God and restores man's place in the Garden of Eden-a place of rest, provision, and complete reliance on the Creator.

In The Gospel of Matthew and Judaic Traditions, Herbert W. Basser, with the editorial help of Marsha Cohen, utilizes his encyclopaedic knowledge of Judaism to navigate Matthew’s Gospel. This close, original reading explicates Matthew’s use of Jewish concepts and legal traditions that have not been fully understood in the past. Basser highlights Gospel sources that are congruent with a wide swath of extant Jewish writings from various provenances. Matthew affirms Jesus’ end-of-days—the coming of the Kingdom—salvation message: initially meant for Jews, it is the Gentiles who embraced his message and teachings that encouraged their faith and simple trust. Matthew’s literary art manages to preserve the Jewish details in his sources while disclosing an anti-Jewish and pro-Gentile bias.

We love God. We love our country. What does it look like to love each properly and well? National tensions are at a record high. People on all points in the political spectrum care deeply about their country, although they differ wildly in their opinions about what it looks like to serve that country well. As Christians, we love God and seek to follow him. At the same time, nothing shapes us and tugs at our loyalties quite like the place we live. And of course we are regularly encouraged to pledge our allegiance to our country—or particular understandings of it. Who wins when the priorities of God and our country clash? In Kingdom and Country, a collection of leading Christian thinkers and practitioners take a holistic approach to considering the questions of patriotism, nationalism, and where our ultimate loyalties must lie. Contributors include Alejandro Mandes, Juliet Liu, Ryan Tafilowski, Derek Vreeland, Rod Wilson, Michelle Reyes, Amanda Smith, Karen Wilk, Sean Palmer, and Tina Boesch Kingdom and Country is the second in a series of Kingdom Conversations, books that bring together trusted Christian voices to address some of the most urgent and perplexing challenges of our time in timeless and redemptive ways.
