Youth work is a means of promoting learning, equality and inclusion with young people. Youth work takes place in a wide range of settings, varies from unstructured activities to fairly structured programs, reaches a diverse array of young people, touches upon many different themes and cuts across several other disciplines and practices. This book sheds critical light on the routinely debated issue of how to create sustainable, equitable and meaningful partnerships between visual art organisations and youth organisations. Using a Bourdieusian framework, this book analyses the different social and professional worlds of youth work and gallery education and explores why tensions often arise between partners in these fields.
