Zoo Animal Nutrition

A selection of material that would have been presented at the second Zoo Animal Nutrition Conference. This event was cancelled due to the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease -- Introduction.

This interim report assesses issues related to animal management, husbandry, health, and care at the Smithsonian Institution's National Zoological Park. The report finds that there are shortcomings in care and management that are threatening the well-being of the animal collection and identifies the "most pressing" issues that should be addressed.

The book provides comprehensive information about the different aspects of veterinary nutrition in tropical countries.The introductory chapter discuss the importance of nutrition, feeds and feeding of balanced and optimum feeds specifically required for the sustenance of life. Also this book deals with the harmful components of animal feed which are found mainly in the unconventional feeds. The books also provide chapters like partitioning of feed& energy and also the therapeutic and clinical nutrition which are very importantfor the under graduate & post graduate students and researchers of animal nutrition and livestock production and management. This book is useful for researchers, undergraduate and post graduate students studying veterinary sciences, animal husbandry, zoology and biochemistry.

Wildlife Feeding and Nutrition fills a serious gap in the wildlife and animal nutrition literature by providing a discussion of the basic principles of nutrition and their application to the broader field of wildlife ecology.
