2006 International Conference On Computing And Informatics

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Intelligence and Security Informatics, ISI 2006. Gathers 39 revised full papers, 30 revised short papers, and 56 extended poster abstracts, organized in topical sections including intelligence analysis and knowledge discovery; access control, privacy, and cyber trust; surveillance and emergency response; infrastructure protection and cyber security; terrorism informatics and countermeasures; surveillance, bioterrorism, and emergency response.

These proceedings derive from an international conference on the history of computing and education. This conference is the second of hopefully a series of conferences that will take place within the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and hence, we describe it as the "Second IFIP Conference on the History of Computing and Education" or simply "History of Computing and Education 2" (HCE2). This volume consists of a collection of articles presented at the HCE2 conference held in association with the IFIP 2006 World Computer Congress in Santiago, Chile. Articles range from a wide variety of educational and computing perspectives and represent activities from five continents. The HCE2 conference represents a joint effort of the IFIP Working Group 9. 7 on the History of Computing and the IFIP Technical Committee 3 on Education. The HCE2 conference brings to light a broad spectrum of issues. It illustrates topics in computing as they occurred in the "early days" of computing whose ramifications or overtones remain with us today. Indeed, many of the early challenges remain part of our educational tapestry; most likely, many will evolve into future challenges. Therefore, these proceedings provide additional value to the reader as it will reflect in part the future development of computing and education to stimulate new ideas and models in educational development. These proceedings provide a spectrum of interesting articles spanning many topics of historical interest.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Conference on Soft Computing in Data Science, SCDS 2016, held in Putrajaya, Malaysia, in September 2016. The 27 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 66 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on artificial neural networks; classification, clustering, visualization; fuzzy logic; information and sentiment analytics.

The papers contained in this volume were presented at the fourth edition of the IFIP International Conference on Theoretical Computer Science (IFIP TCS), held August 23-24, 2006 in Santiago, Chile. They were selected from 44 pa pers submitted from 17 countries in response to the call for papers. A total of 16 submissions were accepted as full papers, yielding an acceptance rate of about 36%. Papers sohcited for IFIP TCS 2006 were meant to constitute orig inal contributions in two general areas: Algorithms, Complexity and Models of Computation; and Logic, Semantics, Specification and Verification. The conference also included six invited presentations: Marcelo Arenas (P- tificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, Chile), Jozef Gruska (Masaryk University, Czech Republic), Claudio Gutierrez (Universidad de Chile, Chile), Marcos Kiwi (Universidad de Chile, Chile), Nicola Santoro (Carleton University, Canada), and Mihalis Yannakakis (Columbia University, USA). The abstracts of those presentations are included in this volume. In addition, Jozef Gruska and Nicola Santoro accepted our invitation to write full papers related to their talks. Those two surveys are included in the present volume as well. TCS is a biannual conference. The first edition was held in Sendai (Japan, 2000), followed by Montreal (Canada, 2002) and Toulouse (France, 2004).

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Conference on Informatics in Secondary Schools - Evolution and Perspectives, ISSEP 2006, held in Vilnius, Lithuania in November 2006. The 29 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 204 submissions. A broad variety of topics related to teaching informatics in secondary schools is addressed.
