4 Plays Of Gil Vicente

First published in 1920, this book contains four plays by Gil Vicente in the original Portuguese with a parallel English translation. An editorial introduction and notes are incorporated within the text, together with a bibliography of works relating to Vicente. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in Portuguese drama and literature.

The three plays edited and translated in this volume are strongly linked to what we now think of as the Portuguese Discoveries. All three are fundamentally concerned with the expansion of Portugal in Africa and India through either crusade or commerce.
