About the Appendix A Book Template In the fall of 2011, an idea/concept began formulating for a book series covering the events of the most significant eight weeks of Christianity’s beginnings – events comprising core components of Christian theology – Jesus Christ’s final Passover Week through the following Pentecost observance (when the first 3,000 Christians were baptized, after hearing the apostles’ speaking in the listeners’ native languages.) Using a “Harmony of the Gospels” matrix format, the intent is to compile a single chronological story derived from the endings of the four gospels and the first two chapters of Acts. (See Table of Contents page showing the 655 selected Bible verses.) The four matrix columns contain the Bible verses from (1) Matthew, (2) Mark, (3) Luke, and (4) John, then Acts. Where the verses from multiple gospels are describing the same (sub)event, the narratives are placed in horizontal parallel alignment on the page ( “Gospels’ Comparative Text Alignment” [G’CTA] ). To produce a single chronological story, discrepancies in event sequences in the four gospels had to be resolved. After careful analysis, the publishing editor had to make a subjective decision as to the sequence the events would be ordered in the text. (Those column verses presented out of sequence are boxed in an orange double border.) A small number of the selected 655 Bible gospel verses are not present in the earliest surviving gospel manuscripts. The text of those passages are italicized and in green font. A suggestion to illustrate the books (to be created from this derivative work compilation book template) was implemented after finding the 365 public domain watercolor images created by James Tissot in the late 1800’s. We selected 63 images (from volumes III & IV of The Life of Our Saviour Jesus Christ published in the USA in 1899) to be placed adjacent to the corresponding Bible verses in the text. (Bible verses illustrated by the adjacent images are double-underlined in the matrix table.) The resulting chronological G’CTA matrix table was then subdivided into 78 “events” (with author/editor-generated event descriptions) under the six section headings identified in the Table of Contents.

Beginning with Palm Sunday, the gospels record every day of Jesus’ life up to the time of his death and resurrection. These eight days are unparalleled in the canon of Scripture for their narrative power, their detail, and their focus. A unique synthesis of the four gospel accounts of the passion and resurrection of Christ is provided in this seamless and elegant narrative account of the Easter events, including every detail mentioned in all four Gospels, but without any unnecessary repetition or distracting references. A chapter is assigned to each of these days to facilitate devotional reading and study during the days leading up to Easter. Two chapters are added on either side of the eight days to round out the story. A study guide is also included. The book invites reader to experience the events of Christ’s passion as they happened, thus fully entering into the drama of the Easter story. More than anything, this book is an invitation to join Jesus and the disciples in walking the road that leads to Jerusalem, and to experience the events that happened there in an intimate and life-changing way.

In his bestselling book The Case for Christ, Lee Strobel retraced his spiritual journey from atheism to faith by showing how the evidence he obtained from experts in the field of history, archaeology, and ancient manuscripts led him to the verdict that Jesus truly was the Son of God. Now, in this four-week study for Easter (DVD/digital downloads sold separately), Lee investigates the story surrounding the resurrection of Jesus—and how we can know that it is true. In each session, he will explore the following aspects of the Easter story: What the Gospel accounts actually say about Jesus' death and resurrection, how we can reconcile the discrepancies between the accounts, and how we can know the biblical accounts are accurate How we can use a technique known as "five minimal facts"—facts on which even skeptical scholars agree are true—and medical evidence to build a strong case for Jesus' resurrection What the evidence in the Gospels reveals about the Jesus' tomb being empty, why the Gospel writers are credible when they make this claim, and what this evidence leads us to conclude Who the Bible states witnessed Jesus being alive after the crucifixion, how early creeds emerged that stated Jesus was alive, and how it’s clear the early church carried on this teaching The Case for Easter invites participants to examine the evidence for themselves and consider whether the story of Jesus' resurrection makes sense. It will point them to the inescapable conclusion that led Lee from atheism to Christianity: Jesus was the Son of God who conquered the grave. Designed for use with The Case for Christmas Video Study/The Case for Easter Video Study (sold separately). This DVD is a set of two videos to accompany The Case for Christmas Study Guide and The Case for Easter Study Guide (each guide sold separately).
