A Guide To The New Canadian Environmental Protection Act

Under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999), importers and manufacturers of new substances (chemicals, polymers, biochemicals, biopolymers and animate products of biotechnology) must provide prescribed information to Environment Canada to ensure that the new substances are assessed to determine if they are toxic as defined by CEPA 1999. They must also pay a fee.
