For the improvement of this new work the Editor confidently looks forward to a continuance of those valuable corrections and suggestions with which travellers have been in the habit of favouring him, and for which he owes them a deep debt of gratitude. On the maps and plans the utmost care has been bestow ed, and it is hoped that they will often be of material service to the traveller, enabling him at a glance to ascertain his bearings and select the best routes. A short account of the ordinary routes from London to Paris will be found in connection with the French seaports at which the passengers land. Heights and distances are given in English measure ment.
