Irene Cohen was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She started writing at 13 and did not have anyone to turn to so she made her own journal. And just the same way, she turned to the journal and music. She is very passionate about music. Writing and music helped her to sustain. 'Finding Light in the Darkness' is a collection of blackout poetry through a journey of depression, love, loss, life and starting over. A mixture of poetry and art made by taking any form of printed text and blacking out the unwanted words to create a poem or statement, it's a form of therapy that promotes overall well-being and mental health.

Living beside some of the most renowned scenery in Northern Ireland and an inspiration for C.S Lewis's Narnia, has inspired me to write these pieces. The people I am acquainted with have also contributed greatly to my writings and poured their emotions into my work. My intentions for these poems are to stir up feelings, encouraging people to ponder and capture the themes of each poem.

This is a collection of poems full of emotions. Each one written straight from the heart. The first half of the book contains poems full of pain and misery, representing the Dark one may find themselves in. The second half, Light, contains poems full of happiness and love. This entire collection represents how one can find happiness in life even though at times it seems life can not get any grimmer, or see a light at the end of a dark tunnel.
