Conner McGinn, an American steel millionaire, wanted to purchase some jewels and got in touch with ‘The Toff’) concerning a problem that had arisen, who had only cricket on his mind that day. Even so, if the Toff had not been crazy about cricket the deeply mystifying case, involving murder and kidnapping, might never have been solved.

Kate Lowson was waiting at the airport when suddenly the Alsatian sprang at her. As she lay on the ground, the figures present sidled off, but then ‘The Toff’ appeared on the scene. Very soon the story became as lively as an electric wire as the balance fell first one way, then the other, with Kate firmly in the middle of the puzzle.

The Honourable Richard Rollison (aka ‘The Toff’) has to solve the mystery of a young girl found wandering in London’s East End. Is she pretending, or really frightened?
