This book reports on innovative materials research with a special emphasis on methods, modeling, and simulation tools for analyzing material behavior, emerging materials, and composites, and their applications in the field of manufacturing. Chapters are based on contributions to the third International Conference on Advanced Materials Mechanics and Manufacturing, A3M2021, organized by the Laboratory of Mechanics, Modeling, and Manufacturing (LA2MP) of the National School of Engineers of Sfax, Tunisia and held online on March 25-27, 2021. These proceedings present a selection of papers presented at the 3rd International Conference on Materials Mechanics and Management 2017 (IMMM 2017), which was jointly organized by the Departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Architecture of College of Engineering Trivandrum. Developments in the fields of materials, mechanics and management have paved the way for overall improvements in all aspects of human life. The quest for meeting the requirements of the rapidly increasing population has led to revolutionary construction and production technologies aiming at optimum management and use of natural resources. The objective of this conference was to bring together experts from academic institutions, industries, research organizations and professionals for sharing of knowledge, expertise and experience in the emerging trends related to Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Architecture. Further topics covered include virtual simulation and reverse engineering; additive manufacturing; product manufacturing; engineering methods in medicine and education; representation techniques; and nautical, aeronautics and aerospace design and modeling. Among the studied materials are bulk metallic glasses, metamaterials, special composites, piezoelectric smart structures, nonwovens, etc. The last decades have seen a large extension of types of materials employed in various applications. In many cases these materials demonstrate mechanical properties and performance that vary significantly from those of their traditional counterparts. Such uniqueness is sought – or even specially manufactured – to meet increased requirements on modern components and structures related to their specific use. As a result, mechanical behaviors of these materials under different loading and environmental conditions are outside the boundaries of traditional mechanics of materials, presupposing development of new characterization techniques, theoretical descriptions and numerical tools.
