Frank Urwin is a journalist and a special reporter of a highly respectable London daily newspaper, always in search of a good story. One day he gets a telegram from his acquaintance Inspector Patterson, to meet him at the station. Patterson is visibly nervous as he tells him about a bizarre event at the house nearby. Together they visit the place and find young couple dead, and while they are still there the telephone rings and the strange voice asks to meet them the next day. When they report murders and come back with more police force, the body of the dead woman is switched with another. William Le Queux (1864-1927) was an Anglo-French writer who mainly wrote in the genres of mystery, thriller, and espionage, particularly in the years leading up to World War I. His best-known works are the anti-French and anti-Russian invasion fantasy "The Great War in England in 1897" and the anti-German invasion fantasy "The Invasion of 1910."

A Village, A Murder, A Mystery. And a Keen-eyed Amateur Detective. In a quiet Dartmoor village, ex-corporate troubleshooter Dan Corrigan is a fish out of water. He's also an excellent amateur investigator. Dan never walks away from a mystery, so when a murder is committed, he knows what he must do. He's determined to solve the mystery, whatever the risks. The murderer must not go unpunished. Justice must be done. But first, Dan must untangle a web of deceit, because in this rural valley, the river runs deep, but the lies run deeper still. Join Dan in this British mystery today, because there's more to Dartmoor than meets the eye. The Devonshire Mysteries are cosy mysteries (or cozy mysteries for my friends across the pond). As with any cosy/cozy mystery, you'll find a crime (or two just to make things interesting) and there'll be clues, suspects, red herrings and a variety of puzzles for our intrepid investigators to solve. While there is an element of danger, and let's face it, crime is never pleasant, you won't find gratuitous violence or gore. Any profanity is infrequent, mild and presented in the context of the story. Sound good? Then escape to rural Devon, where the sun is shining on the rolling green fields, the birds are singing in the trees, and the wilds of Dartmoor are just a heartbeat away. The Devonshire Mysteries - your world of cosy mystery awaits.

"Hush! Think, if you were overheard!" "Well, my dear fellow, I only assert what's true," I said. "I really can't believe it," observed my companion, shaking his head doubtfully. "But I'm absolutely satisfied," I answered. "The two affairs, mysterious as they are, are more closely connected than we imagine. I thought I had convinced you by my arguments. A revelation will be made some day, and it will be a startling one-depend upon it."

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The series that began with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo continues in this “engrossing” novel (USA Today) as brilliant hacker Lisbeth Salander teams up with journalist Mikael Blomkvist to uncover the secrets of her childhood and take revenge. Lisbeth Salander—obstinate outsider, volatile seeker of justice for herself and others—seizes on a chance to unearth her mysterious past once and for all. And she will let nothing stop her—not the Islamists she enrages by rescuing a young woman from their brutality; not the prison gang leader who passes a death sentence on her; not the deadly reach of her long-lost twin sister, Camilla; and not the people who will do anything to keep buried knowledge of a sinister pseudoscientific experiment known only as The Registry. Once again, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist are the fierce heart of a thrilling full-tilt novel that takes on some of the world's most insidious problems.

As one of the country's top detectives, he was involved in famous cases like Jameson Raid, arresting the jewel-thief 'Harry the Valet' and Dr. Crippen. Charles Norris Williamson (1859–1920) and Alice Muriel Williamson (1869-1933) were British novelists who jointly wrote a number of novels which cover the early days of motoring and can also be read as travelogues. Isabel Egenton Ostrander (1883–1924) was a British mystery writer of the early twentieth century who used, besides her own name, the pseudonyms Robert Orr Chipperfield, David Fox, and Douglas Grant. In 1920s she was notable enough to be parodied by Agatha Christie in Partners in Crime, a Tommy and Tuppence mystery that parodies many of Christie's idols.
