Applications Of Its In South Dakota Work Zones

A research report to identify or develop a speed monitoring display suitable for use in interstate highway work zones, & evaluate the display's effectiveness in reducing speeds in interstate work zones. A review of the literature & current practice was conducted to identify product availability & other state transportation use. Speed monitoring display alternatives were identified & evaluated according to essential requirements & project evaluation criteria. A lidar laser radar device was tested with a changeable message sign. The speed monitoring display was effective in reducing speeds higher than 70 mph.
