Cette étude présente une évaluation critique des coûts et des bénéfices de l’adaptation dans certains secteurs clés mais vulnérables au changement climatique ainsi qu’à l’échelle nationale et mondiale.

Le changement climatique pose un defi majeur au developpement economique et social. La reduction des emissions de gaz a effet de serre doit etre accompagnee de mesures incitatives a l'adaptation aux impacts du changement climatique. Dans ce contexte, la problematique des couts et benefices de l'adaptation presente de plus en plus d'interet autant dans le cadre des projets menes sur le terrain que dans celui de la cooperation pour le developpement et des negociations internationales. Cette etude presente une evaluation critique des couts et des benefices de l'adaptation dans certains secteurs cles mais vulnerables au changement climatique ainsi qu'a l'echelle nationale et mondiale. Au-dela de la problematique de l'estimation des couts, cette analyse oriente le debat sur le potentiel et les limites des instruments economiques - par exemple, assurance et partage des risques, marches et tarification de biens et services environnementaux, partenariats public-prive - visant a encourager les activites d'adaptation.

Organized by the REHSEIS group (Research on Epistemology and History of Exact Sciences and Scientific Institutions) of CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research), the colloquium was held from 3 to 6 April 1990 in the UNESCO building in Paris. This colloquium was an idea of Professor Roshdi Rashed who initiated this field of studies in France some years ago, and proposed "Sciences and Empires" as one of the main research programmes for the The project to organize such a colloquium was a bit REHSEIS group. of a gamble. Tourist visits used to be a less common activity in the past. However, more people than ever now make leisure trips, making this an era of mass tourism. This drastic change in spatial behaviour is not only caused by economic prosperity, but the scale of this phenomenon means that it is able to generate economic growth, making tourism a key factor in regional development policy. One of the main challenges of current regional policy is to market the attractiveness of an area, thereby increasing tourist visits and subsequent revenue. In particular, regions are attempting this through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which offer information on interesting places, and efficient methods for organizing and booking trips. This book examines the interconnections between tourism, ICT and regional development.
