This atlas is a histological reference for surgical pathologists not familiar or comfortable with the diagnosis of non-tumorous diseases of bones and joints. One in three physician office visits are due to bone or joint complaints; yet only one in thirty thousand orthopedic patients has a bone tumor. The diagnosis of orthopedic diseases is a complex enterprise requiring cross specialty cooperation. While contributions from orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, and rheumatologists have been included to provide more clinical relevance to this work, the emphasis is on surgical pathology of bone and joint diseases. The original and comprehensive photographs, illustrations, and tables in this reference enhance clinicopathologic correlation and diagnostic application in a way seldom provided by previous pathology resources.

This atlas presents a collection of richly illustrated teaching cases. It covers the fundamentals of orthopedic oncology complemented with relevant aspects that are demonstrated using individual cases. In a specialty that deals with a relatively smaller number of cases compared to tumors of other systems, this atlas prepares readers for clinical practice by combining a problem-based learning (PBL) approach, which lies on the continuum between structured and guided learning, with theory and practical insights. The book is divided into sections, arranged according to anatomical regions and the reconstruction type. Each section focuses on a specific anatomical region, and each case presentation includes the basic clinical history, basic principles, preoperative, perioperative and radiographic images, a pitfall list, treatment strategy, technical pearls, outcomes and complications. For each region the authors discuss both the biological and non-biological reconstruction techniques. The book is designed to actively involve the reader, making it an invaluable tool for all orthopedic surgeons confronted with oncologic surgery. The book is intended for trainees in orthopedics, orthopedic oncology fellows as well as practicing consultants.

The purpose of this atlas is to provide an illustrated guide to the diagnosis of bone, joint and soft tissue lesions. Although primarily directed towards histopathologists, it will also be of use to physicians, surgeons, radiologists and others involved in the diagnosis and treatment ofpathological conditions of bone, joint and soft tissues. As the pathology of bone, joint and soft tissues is commonly dealt with separately in other works, one of the aims of this atlas is to present in a single volume the appearances of the neoplastic as well as the more common non-neoplasticconditions encountered in orthopaedic pathology. The photomicrographs in this atlas provide representative appearances of the (often highly variable) morphological features of pathological lesions occurring in bone, joint and soft tissue. Where possible, the pathology is shown at both low-power andhigh power in order to demonstrate both in order to demonstrate both the overall architecture and cytological detail of the lesion. As examination of gross specimen may provide useful diagnostic information, the macroscopic appearance of some lesions has also been illustrated. The captions whichaccompany the figures not only describe the histological findings but also, as this often provides essential diagnostic information, the clinical background and radiological features of each lesion.
