As more than 90% of spending on the Internet comes from brick and mortar companies it is these operations that will form the client base for e-learning. This book shows those companies how to get e-learning implementation right first time. Don Morisson explores and explains the whole implementation continuum - strategy, vendor selection, technology, implementation, culture change, content development and delivery. Most importantly he stresses that the success or failure of an e-learning initiative is directly related to the underlying strategic thinking. Written for a more mature, second generation e-learning market the book provides a practitioner's handbook to both guide the novice and inform the veteran. * Focuses on the reader's needs * Focuses on the strategic issues of e-learning * Informed by key business drivers * Supported and endorsed by PWC Readership: Senior managers including CEOs, CIOs, CLOs, HR Directors, middle management responsible for implementing and/or delivering e-learning, consultants

Millions of people suffer from neuropathy â a degenerative nerve disease that can cripple its victims with 24/7 pain and loss of nerve sensation along with sexual, digestive and mental problems. If you have diabetes, your chances are 7 out of 10 of developing the disease. But, is it a separate disease or could it be the "flip side" of elevated blood sugar and Type 2 diabetes? Until now, the various forms of neuropathy have been treated with an expensive array of medications that, at best, work only some of the time. Is it possible, just possible, that the pain and misery of neuropathy can be eliminated by RAISING blood sugar levels at critical moments? Type 4 Diabetes explores the potentially critical link between blood sugar levels and neuropathy, diabetes and AlzheimerâÂÂs, hypoglycemia and fibromyalgia.

In 1947, the University of California and Yale University baseball teams took the field in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to play the first-1ever NCAA Division I College World Series. It was a two-day, three-game series with an attendance of fewer than 4,000. Today, it is a weeklong series held in Omaha, Nebraska, with eight teams, tens of thousands of fans and millions more watching on television. This book covers each College World Series from 1947 through the 2003 series. For Division I, the authors devote a chapter to each decade, and then richly cover each game of each series. They also provide information on standout players' careers (in baseball and other professions). The NCAA Division II and III team championships are also covered comprehensively if briefly, and an appendix features short profiles of great college coaches.

This is the first of four volumes that present the results from the University of Cincinnati's archaeological excavations of the Porta Stabia neighborhood at Pompeii. These excavations targeted two town blocks on either side of the via Stabiana (insulae VIII.7 and I.1), which comprised modest houses, shops, workshops, food and drink outlets, and hospitality buildings. The present volume describes and documents the phased, structural development of this neighborhood over several centuries. The earliest discernible activity here dates to the 6th century BCE, with the insulae taking their definitive shape only in the 2nd century BCE. It is from this time that production activities dominate the neighborhood, only to be wholly replaced by retail-oriented street-fronts from the early 1st century CE. Underpinning this narrative of urban development is a focus on the social and structural making of the Porta Stabia neighborhood, along with an interest in both the micro- (urban site formation processes) and macro-contextualization of the site (setting the results within a larger historic and urban framework).

When Harvard came back from a 16-point deficit with less than a minute to go to tie Yale in their now-famous 1968 gridiron tilt, the headline in the Harvard Crimson the following Monda proudly boasted, "Harvard Beats Yale, 29-29." This and nineteen other improbable comebacks are the subjects of Wilner and Rappoport's latest volume of extraordinary achievements from the world of sports, and include the 1914 "miracle" Braves, Billy Casper's incredible rally to beat Arnold Palmer in the 1966 U.S. Open, the New York Giants' magical playoff run in 1951, and others. Also included are sidebars on individual athletes whose "combacks" included overcoming disease (i.e. Lance Armstrong) and reviving a career (i.e. Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali).
