Is our universe some kind of cosmic accident, or is it the result of careful and skillful design? What do scientists mean by "The Anthropic Principle"? When compiling the many physical and mathematical subtleties which make up our universe, scientist have discovered that a slight variation in any of them militates against the existence of life. Even at the atomic and sub-atomic level, the slightest variation in any of the primary constants of physics - some as sensitive as one part in over 1,000,000 - cause life to be impossible. Even secular science refers to these appearances of apparent design as the "anthropic principle," since they yield the impression that the universe was designed specifically for man.

UPDATED EDITION WITH OVER FIFTY NEW STORIES 'A FIRST-RATE BOOK' - THE OBSERVER Laura Buxton, aged ten, releases a balloon from her garden. It lands 140 miles away in the garden of another Laura Buxton, aged ten. Coincidence? Or something beyond coincidence? Is someone playing snap with our lives? Could it be the hand of God? Or are we, as some scientists have suggested, being granted an insight into a hyper-connected universe whose ubiquitous web-like workings we can only dimly discern? Beyond Coincidence is a celebration of the universe's most beguiling phenomenon, containing more than 250 amazing stories of coincidence. From sympathetic magic to the science of probability, from the vicissitudes of gamblers to the mysterious communions of subatomic particles, this book chases coincidence in all its many guises, analysing how it affects every aspect of our lives and why it means so much to even the most sceptical of us.

All of us are familiar with coincidence. We routinely define a coincidence as "the seeming connection of unrelated events." Coincidences are quite common in fact, but at what point do the odds of a supposed coincidence become so utterly unlikely as to be determined impossible? So impossible in fact that any reasonable person must admit that something more than coincidence is at work. Some plan, some mind, someone. Someone indeed! Follow along and explore the lives of two prominent figures from the pages of the Bible. The lives of these two, separated by many centuries in historical time, parallel so closely in dozens of ways, that the likelihood it could have been by accident, by chance is, well, BEYOND COINCIDENCE! The implications of the undeniable truth of this "coincidence" cannot be overstated and most certainly will draw you closer to Jesus in a way that likely you have not encounter before.

Authors have many reasons for writing a book, but the reason for this one goes beyond explaining. All I can do is describe what happened and let others tell their story. Friend Dorothy and I were planning a holiday leisurely RVing through Mexico, when suddenly we were sidetracked by the Lord into something else - collecting material for this book. When God wants to get our attention it can happen softly, like a wink, but at other times it comes as a bolt from the blue hitting one over the head. I'm thick headed so God's usual mode of operation with me is a bolt, but this time it was just a gentle wink! Just days before we left home a friend phoned, suggesting we look up a small advertisement in the RV TIMES. Someone called Charley was looking for Christian RVers going into North Western Mexico. Why not email him? Wink! We did, and as people say, the rest is God-history. Looking back now I can see that God was up to something!

"Beyond Coincidence" recounts and analyzes more than two hundred amazing stories of synchronicity, the likes of: Laura Buxton, age ten, releases a balloon from her backyard. It lands 140 miles away in the backyard of another Laura Buxton, also age ten. Two sisters in Alabama decide, independently, to visit the other. En route, their identical jeeps collide and both sisters are killed. The winning number in the evening drawing of the New York Lottery three-digit " numbers" game on September 11, 2002 is 9-1-1. From magic and religion to subatomic particles and the laws of probability, "Beyond Coincidence" deeply explores the roots of luck, odds, and circumstance while telling amazing stories that will have you shaking your head.

We've all experienced or heard of surprising events and unexplainable coincidences—money that seems to come from nowhere, a spontaneous idea that turns into a life-changing solution, meeting our soulmate on a flight we weren't supposed to take, or families being reunited by "accident" after years of separation. Often these coincidences are explained as being controlled by a higher power or pure chance. But for the first time since Carl Jung's work, comes bold new research that explains scientifically how we can identify, understand, and perhaps even control the frequency of coincidences in our everyday lives. Bernard Beitman, a leading expert on Coincidence Studies, proposes a greater personal responsibility which depends partly upon newly discovered "grid cells" located in the brain, near the hippocampus. But neuroscience cannot complete the entire puzzle, and in this fascinating guide, Beitman provides the missing piece. From analyzing true stories of synchronicity from around the globe and throughout history, he shares key personality characteristics and situational factors that contribute to the occurrence of meaningful coincidences in our lives. Where other books on coincidences tend to be theoretical, inspirational, or story collections only, Beitman's book is the first to provide a scientific understanding and practical ways in which readers can use them in their own lives. He reveals: How to activate your observing self so you don't miss synchronistic moments How serendipity can offer insights into solving problems or making difficult decisions Why stress activates meaningful coincidences Which states of mind impede our ability to experience synchronicity How to interpret the meaning of a coincidence Why being attuned to coincidences is a learned skill—and how to hone your sensitivity.

Are there more than four dimensions to physical reality? Is it possible to traverse time as well as space? Is there a reality beyond our traditional concepts of time and space? The startling discovery of modern science is that our physical universe is actually finite. Scientists now acknowledge that the universe had a beginning. They call the singularity from which it all began the "Big Bang." While the detail among the many variants of these theories remain quite controversial, the fact that there was a definite beginning has gained widespread agreement. This is, of course, what the Bible has maintained throughout its 66 books.
