In den letzten Jahren hat sich der Workshop "Bildverarbeitung für die Medizin" durch erfolgreiche Veranstaltungen etabliert. Ziel ist auch 2006 wieder die Darstellung aktueller Forschungsergebnisse und die Vertiefung der Gespräche zwischen Wissenschaftlern, Industrie und Anwendern. Die Beiträge dieses Bandes - einige in englischer Sprache - behandeln alle Bereiche der medizinischen Bildverarbeitung sowie deren klinische Anwendungen.

Auch 2009 hat der Workshop „Bildverarbeitung für die Medizin" erneut zum Ziel, aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse darzustellen und den Dialog zwischen Wissenschaftlern, Industrie und Anwendern zu vertiefen. Die Beiträge des Bandes - einige in englischer Sprache - behandeln alle Bereiche der medizinischen Bildverarbeitung, insbesondere Bildgebung, CAD, Segmentierung, Bildanalyse, Visualisierung und Animation, Roboter und Manipulatoren, Chirurgische Simulatoren, Diagnose, Therapieplanung sowie deren klinische Anwendungen.

Die Beiträge der Workshop-Dokumentation - einige in englischer Sprache - behandeln alle Bereiche der medizinischen Bildverarbeitung, insbesondere Bildgebung, CAD, Segmentierung, Bildanalyse, Computerunterstützte Diagnose, Therapieplanung sowie deren klinische Anwendungen.

The book presents selected methods for accelerating image retrieval and classification in large collections of images using what are referred to as ‘hand-crafted features.’ It introduces readers to novel rapid image description methods based on local and global features, as well as several techniques for comparing images. Developing content-based image comparison, retrieval and classification methods that simulate human visual perception is an arduous and complex process. The book’s main focus is on the application of these methods in a relational database context. The methods presented are suitable for both general-type and medical images. Offering a valuable textbook for upper-level undergraduate or graduate-level courses on computer science or engineering, as well as a guide for computer vision researchers, the book focuses on techniques that work under real-world large-dataset conditions.

This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of the First International Workshop on Smart Ultrasound Imaging, SUSI 2019, and the 4th International Workshop on Preterm, Perinatal and Paediatric Image Analysis, PIPPI 2019, held in conjunction with the 22nd International Conference on Medical Imaging and Computer-Assisted Intervention, MICCAI 2019, in Shenzhen, China, in October 2019. The 10 full papers presented at SUSI 2019 and the 10 full papers presented at PIPPI 2019 were carefully reviewed and selected. The SUSI papers cover a wide range of medical applications of B-Mode ultrasound, including cardiac (echocardiography), abdominal (liver), fetal, musculoskeletal, and lung. The PIPPI papers cover the detailed scientific study of volumetric growth, myelination and cortical microstructure, placental structure and function.

This book constitutes thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the workshops of the 19th International Conference on Parallel Computing, Euro-Par 2013, held in Aachen, Germany in August 2013.
