THIS BOOK CONTAINS THE RESULTS OF TWO INDEPENDENT ARCHAEOLOGICAL STUDIES CONDUCTED IN THE HEART OF GLASTONBURY TOWN CENTRE AT 11 HIGH STREET, NOW THE FOOTPRINT OF THE BUSY DOUBLE AWARD-WINNING GAUNTLET SHOPPING THOROUGHFARE. The studies were commissioned by the Developer and Landlord/owner Doug Hill between 2005-2007. They were request ed as a pre-condition for planning by Somerset CountyCouncil as it was considered imperative to document the history of the site, the development of which offered a unique opportunity prior to the commencement of the building works. This is a Grade 2 listed building positioned in the centre of a conservation area in the heart of Glastonbury (adjacent to the Tri - bunal, a Grade 1 Listed building) and as such is considered to be of great importance. The land at 11 High Street was stripped, mapped and the artefacts logged. The broad spectrum of finds were subsequently donated to the Somerset Museum, Taunton. Two Archaeological Reports INTRODUCED BY DOUG HILL The Gauntlet, Glastonbury THE TREASURE BENEATH OUR FEET Doug Hill THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL ANALYSIS CONTAINED IN THIS BOOK IS COMPREHENSIVE. An inspiring anthology for anyone seeking guidance, hope, and strength in the midst of our current environmental crisis—featuring writings from Barbara Kingsolver and Barry Lopez The environmental “tipping point” we approach is more palpable each day, and people are seeing it in ways they can no longer ignore—we need only turn on the news to hear the litany of what is wrong around us. Serious reflection, inspiration, and direction on how to approach the future are now critical. Hope Beneath Our Feet creates a space for change with stories, meditations, and essays that address the question, “If our world is facing an imminent environmental catastrophe, how do I live my life right now?” This collection provides tools, both practical and spiritual, to those who care about our world and to those who are just now realizing they need to care. Featuring prominent environmentalists, artists, CEOs, grassroots activists, religious figures, scientists, policy makers, and indigenous leaders, Hope Beneath Our Feet shows readers how to find constructive ways to channel their energies and fight despair with engagement and participation. Presenting diverse strategies for change as well as grounds for hope, the contributors to this anthology celebrate the ways in which we can all engage in beneficial action for ourselves, our communities, and the world. A clear voice of her generation, Sierra DeMulder’s writing offers a gritty, sincere perspective on the subtle joys and modern pains of living. Her debut collection The Bones Below delicately carries the reader to a place of brutal, beautiful honesty. DeMulder’s personal revelations complete a touching portrait of the young artist and her fearless exploration of the human experience, bare in its rawest and most tender forms. DeMulder possesses the most important quality a young writer can have, a unique voice. That voice exploded onto the national poetry scene. Sierra uses subtlety and tension the way photographers use angle. She will eat your heart out with a spoon. -Karen Finneyfrock, “Ceremony for the Choking Ghost" DeMulder is intensely personal. - Huffington Post violently passionate and sweet, deftly moving between the two modes. - The Lamron, New Journal of SUNY Geneseo

"The right story at the right time. . . . It’s not just a narrative; it’s an experience. It’s the novel we’ve been waiting for." —The New York Times A boy tries to steer a safe path through the projects in Harlem in the wake of his brother’s death in this outstanding debut novel that celebrates community and creativity. ** WINNER OF THE CORETTA SCOTT KING–JOHN STEPTOE AWARD FOR NEW TALENT! ** MICHAEL B. JORDAN TO DIRECT MOVIE ADAPTATION! SIX STARRED REVIEWS! It’s Christmas Eve in Harlem, but twelve-year-old Lolly Rachpaul and his mom aren’t celebrating. They’re still reeling from his older brother’s death in a gang-related shooting just a few months earlier. Then Lolly’s mother’s girlfriend brings him a gift that will change everything: two enormous bags filled with Legos. Lolly’s always loved Legos, and he prides himself on following the kit instructions exactly. Now, faced with a pile of building blocks and no instructions, Lolly must find his own way forward. His path isn’t clear—and the pressure to join a “crew,” as his brother did, is always there. When Lolly and his friend are beaten up and robbed, joining a crew almost seems like the safe choice. But building a fantastical Lego city at the community center provides Lolly with an escape—and an unexpected bridge back to the world. David Barclay Moore paints a powerful portrait of a boy teetering on the edge—of adolescence, of grief, of violence—and shows how Lolly’s inventive spirit helps him build a life with firm foundations and open doors.
