La reforma litúrgica del Vaticano II ha atendido la realidad de las Iglesias jóvenes, de los llamados países de misión. Las comunidades cristianas, esparcidas por amplias áreas sin sacerdote residente, con las Celebraciones dominicales en ausencia de presbítero (ADAP), mantienen su vida cristiana a partir de la Eucaristía aunque esta no pudiera ser celebrada cada domingo. Rápidamente esta realidad se ha invertido y ahora son las comunidades ancianas las que se ven en una situación de falta de presbíteros para celebrar la Eucaristía cada domingo en cada comunidad. Nos felicitamos de que haya habido una abundante y rigurosa reflexión sobre estos temas, para que no se pretenda dar soluciones espontáneas a problemas que son muy de fondo porque tocan elementos esenciales de la vida cristiana. The number of Catholic communities with no priest available to celebrate Sunday Eucharist has increased steadily over 60 years. For many, other forms of Sunday celebration are the statistical norm. This dramatic development coincides with Vatican II's insistence on liturgical catechesis: for the baptised the main source of their Christian spirit comes from active participation in the liturgy, especially the Sunday Eucharist. Celebrating the liturgy in all its symbolic fullness leads to inner participation in the mystery.
