There are questions that seem to plague mankind. . .questions that pertain to life and the difficulties that everyone must face. For example, "Why Do Good People Suffer?", and "Who Came Up With God's Plan of Salvation?". People want real answers to these reasonable questions, yet many times the answers given are "canned" and even incorrect. Clear Answers to Murky Questions attempts to give compassionate, thorough, and documented answers to the hard questions of life. After almost thirty-five years of ministry, William Templeton filters through the "mud and the murk" and points people to the Word of God where answers are crystal clear. Having attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and Liberty University, William Templeton has been pastoring churches for more than three decades. He is married to the former Bonita Arlene Irby. The Templetons have four grown children and seven grandchildren (and counting). "Bill" has spent most of his ministry studying the Word in order to prepare expository messages for his people. Through this study, along with interacting with people through the years, he has assembled these questions and their answers. Planning to continue their ministry, Bill and Bonnie hope to use their "empty nest" years to share what they have learned through Bible teaching on CD's, the printed page, and preaching to the people of Willow Baptist Mission. Pastor William M. Templeton has accomplished what I wish many other pastors would do-that is, for the sake of his people and his readers, to grapple with the Bible. Understanding Genesis is a book full of insight not merely from the shelves of the library but also out of ministry and experience in walking with God. While this book may not have all the footnotes that professors might provide, it has insights that arise from walking among the people toward the City of God. Paige Patterson President Southwestern Baptist Theolgical Seminary Fort Worth, Texas The Book of Genesis is the "Book of Beginnings". William Templeton in his book, Understanding Genesis endeavors to present the historical facts, genealogies, and lives and actions of six great men of the faith in clear, applicable, and understandable terms. Arranged in a unique way around the "times" of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph, this book takes the reader through Genesis identifying the plans, purposes, and principles of God and relating them to modern man living in modern times. William Templeton has been pastoring churches for more than three decades. He is married to the former Bonita Arlene Irby. The Templetons have four grown children, seven grandchildren, and counting. William Templeton attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University from 1969 through 1972. He then transferred to what is now Liberty University where he majored in pastoral studies and theology. For thirty-eight years, Bill has been studying Scripture in an effort to bring the word of God to every person in a clear and understandable fashion. Winner, 2009 Richard Kalish Innovative Publication Award. Gerontological Society of America A spiritual life, one focused on personal growth and deep human experience, is a major focus and motivator for people over the age of forty. Yet there is a marked lack of rigorous academic study of spirituality's importance in the lives of aging people. Noted gerontologist Robert C. Atchley remedies this problem by developing complex concepts and language about spirituality. Spirituality and Aging incorporates material from two decades of interviews, observations, study, and reflection to illustrate ways of thinking about and discussing spirituality—what it is, why it is important, and how it influences the experience of aging. This book provides a nuanced view of spirituality and the richness it brings to the lives of older people. The book is divided into three sections, with the first providing basic frames of reference for examining spirituality and aging, such as the nature of spirituality, spiritual development, and the spiritual self. Atchley next focuses on two dimensions of spirituality that are likely to manifest later in life: becoming a sage (developing the capacity to bring spiritual light to everyday issues) and serving from spirit (creating opportunities for service that are rooted in spirituality). The last section illustrates how spirituality informs other aspects of late life, such as psychological coping and the experience of dying and death. Separating spirituality from religion—something few books on this topic do—Spirituality and Aging offers a plan for incorporating spirituality into gerontological scholarship, research, education, and practice.

Why did Black-Korean tensions result in violent clashes in Los Angeles but not in New York City? In a book based on fieldwork and on a nationwide database he constructed to track such conflicts, Patrick D. Joyce goes beyond sociological and cultural explanations. No Fire Next Time shows how political practices and urban institutions can channel racial and ethnic tensions into protest or, alternately, leave them free to erupt violently. Few encounters demonstrate this connection better than those between African Americans and Korean Americans.Cities like New York, where politics is noisy, contentious, and involves people at the grassroots, have seen extensive Black boycotts of Korean-owned businesses (usually small grocery stores). African Americans in Los Angeles have sustained few long-term boycotts of Korean American businesses—but the absence of "routine" contention there goes hand in hand with the large-scale riots of 1992 and continuous acts of individual violence. In demonstrating how conflicts between these groups were intimately tied to their political surroundings, this book yields practical lessons for the future. City governments can do little to fight widening economic inequality in an increasingly diverse nation, Joyce writes. But officials and activists can restructure political institutions to provide the foundations for new multiracial coalitions.
