Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2005 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,3, University of Applied Management, course: Durchführung eines konstruktivistischen Kommunikations- und Verhaltenstrainings, language: English, abstract: The size of a group is a topic with which we each day is unconsciously occupied. If we rise e.g. after a long working day into the overcrowded bus home, then is fast conscious to us: the group is too large. If we cannot master our tasks on the job punctually, we wish ourselves reinforcement. Everyone is each day in a multiplicity of groups: Family, friends, teammate etc. nevertheless: Does it really concern thereby groups? With this question I would like to deal in chapter 2 more in greater detail. There one describes, by which components a group is characterized. Thereupon become in the 3. chapter different group sizes formally and during the process more exactly regarded. All these scenarios suggests that the group has emergent properties which go beyond the individuals who comprise it. Starting from chapter 4 I will be occupied further with the work with smaller groups. The data resulting from it can be used then likewise for the work with larger group - by the organization by sub-groups. At first we will regard, how to use small groups to promote interaction within the class as a whole. This chapter should be an assistance for understanding group phenomena and group processes. Beyond that suggestions given for the line of the group. Finally the also following phenomena are supplemented: how to use groups to syndicate discussions of questions or cases and how to use groups for substential project work. In the last chapter I give a summary and a view to the treated topic.

This book provides a more comprehensive discussion of collaborative school efforts than any other single source currently available. Specifically, multiple disciplinary perspectives are presented, addressing the complexity or "promises and pitfalls" of school collaboration efforts. The book is organized in terms of major considerations in school collaboration initiatives—the organizational structure; the change process; inter-agency and intra-school collaborative efforts; and implications for instruction, leadership, and leadership preparation. Also, the book informs the design of educator preparation programs emphasizing collaborative schools and cross-disciplinary teaching. The chapters address many issues regarding school collaboration, such as which organizational structures will enhance collaborative efforts; which change processes are important in building school collaboration; the costs (in effort, energy, time, or other resources) of collaborating with other external agencies; how teachers' work can be redesigned to enhance collaboration between teachers and the anticipated outcomes for teachers and students; how educators can overcome their separate role socializations to build collaborative work relationships within schools; and the implications of school collaboration for teaching and learning, school leadership, and leadership preparation. The closing chapter offers five synthesizing issues or dilemmas for school collaboration.

Success can make you slow Today's managers waste an estimated 40 percent of their time on unnecessary cooperation, communication and control. Old-fashioned management skills are too expensive and slow to use in today's complex companies. When great companies grow they become more complex. This complexity starts to undermine what made the company successful: the organization slows down, it is more difficult to get things done and it becomes a less satisfying workplace. In his work with talented people from hundreds of the world's leading companies. Kevan discovered that they spend over 80 percent of their time on cooperation, communication and control - and that up to 50 percent of that time is wasted. Organized around 4 Cs - Cooperation, Communication, Control and Community - Speed Lead distills the experience of more than 35,000 people in over 200 of the world's leading companies. The resulting radical view has enabled organizations to unravel the spaghetti of complexity, reduce project cycle times, build closer business relationships and curb the costs of unnecessary travel. Contrary to current leadership wisdom, Speed Lead advises to: celebrate the end of teams where you don't need them; abolish meetings of the bored; take control of the "crack-berry" and don't be a 24-hour control freak; expect more from your people and lead a lot less; make "good-enough" decisions; and, don't let diversity be a diversion - share practices, not values.
