Completely And Utterly Mr Darcy S

When Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy barges half-dressed into the room where Miss Elizabeth Bennet is staying at Netherfield, apparently on the run from Miss Caroline Bingley’s attempt to engineer a compromise and trap him in a marriage, he claims to have compromised Elizabeth instead. Elizabeth is not pleased at this turn of events, considering that Mr. Darcy is the most arrogant and altogether worst man she has ever met. She’s particularly displeased at having her choices taken away and being obliged to become this man’s wife. Mr. Darcy’s ardent admiration of her is some consolation, however, and there is something to be said for the way he seems to be able to reduce her shivers with a look. They have a connection, something powerful, physical, and undeniable. If only Miss Bingley weren’t determined to work her revenge on the newlyweds, and if only Mr. Darcy’s past with a certain Mr. Wickham weren’t lurking in the shadows, ready to rear its ugly head. Dear reader, this is a quintessential Valerie Lennox JAFF—winking irreverence, a dollop of angst, and enough steam to choke on. It returns to some of my favorite tropes and situations (forced marriage, a scheming Caroline, a darker Mr. Darcy) and gives them a little bit of a different spin. I sincerely hope you enjoy!

'Mr Darcy's Resolve' is a variation of Jane Austen's much-loved novel, 'Pride and Prejudice' and tells the story of how Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet begin to improve their relationship following a chance encounter at the roadside.After a fierce argument with her mother, Elizabeth flees from Longbourn in a state of tearful rage. She faces a troubling dilemma and feels trapped by her obligation to her family, though her rebellious, independent spirit is determined not to be subjugated into a loveless marriage. But just as she is at her lowest ebb, when all hope seems to have fled, she is surprised by the arrival of none other than Mr Darcy; the man who only ever looks at her to find fault. Indeed, since Elizabeth knows very well that he views her and all her family with complete derision, she cannot understand why he is so kind and gentlemanly towards her that day. It is the first time that Elizabeth sees a different side to Mr Darcy, and from that day onwards, she starts to gain a new insight into his character - and realises that he is not so arrogant and unfeeling as she always previously assumed him to be. A new understanding grows between them following their encounter, and Elizabeth begins to view him in a better light. Their relationship grows from that day forwards - though their path to happiness is by no means an easy one. Along the way, they face opposition from their families, and must clear up a damaging misapprehension and overcome a scandal that could destroy all their hopes for a future together. Nevertheless, through it all, Mr Darcy is absolutely resolved and utterly set upon a future with his beloved Elizabeth.

What if Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth met when they were young? What if Mr. Darcy had an ambitious, cunning uncle? Years ago, Mr. William Oliver was a different man. He was raised to inherit Pemberley, as Fitzwilliam Darcy. The summer of his thirteenth year, he spent his time sneaking off to play games with a girl named Elizabeth, who was visiting her aunt and uncle in Lambton, just miles from his home. But all that changed one tragic day when the boy’s father fell to his death, directly after they’d had a terrible quarrel. His uncle, Simon Darcy, ushered him off, telling him that everyone would believe the boy had killed his own father, and that he must run away and never come back. And so, for ten years, Mr. Oliver has lived another life with another name, as a foundling in London, dependent on the employment of his friend, Charles Bingley. He accepts an invitation to the country with the Bingleys and accompanies them to a public ball. Then he sets eyes on Elizabeth, all grown up. He recognizes her immediately, and he is stunned by her beauty. Also, he is determined that she never reveal who he truly is. This variation adjusts ages to accommodate the idea that Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth could have conceivably been childhood playmates and adds in a few entirely new characters. It could not be termed entirely clean, but there is no consummation until the very end, after our dear couple are happily married.

After Miss Elizabeth Bennet’s father is swindled in an investment opportunity, the family finds themselves in dire straits, and the eldest Bennet sisters must seek positions as governesses. Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy needs a replacement for the disastrous Miss Younge, who brought his younger sister to near ruin at the hands of the late Mr. Wickham, so he hires Elizabeth. Wickham was killed in a flurry of violence. He threatened Miss Darcy with a knife; Mr. Darcy rushed to defend his sister; the end result was not entirely purposeful. Now, however, both Mr. Darcy and his sister are altered, and Elizabeth knows nothing of what befell them both. So, she arrives to an imposing and grim estate, a secretive and brooding employer, and a haughty and troubled charge. I’m afraid this is another of my out-of-character Mr. Darcy variations. I know not entirely what happened, but a bit of Mr. Rochester seemed to creep into him by degrees as I wrote, and I fear he is a bit darker than our own Fitzwilliam, though hopefully circumstances explain his behavior. I also failed at keeping it clean. Again. I seem to always fail at that, don’t I? Heavens.

What if Elizabeth married Colonel Fitzwilliam? When Colonel Fitzwilliam has a lucky night at cards, he finds himself in possession of an estate and income, and there is suddenly no barrier between a union between himself and Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Elizabeth is pleased to make such an advantageous match and accepts the proposal of the amiable colonel. It is only after she learns the truth about Mr. George Wickham that she feels the first twinge of regret for what might have been with the colonel’s cousin, Mr. Darcy. But it is twenty years before anything can come of such thoughts—twenty years of marriage, children, struggles, and surrenders. It is only at Elizabeth’s late husband’s funeral that she and Mr. Darcy can even possibly consider a connection. After all this time, does feeling still smolder between them? Dear reader, I conceived of this idea out of a desire to write about Elizabeth at my own current age, forty. If you’d enjoy a story about a more mature Darcy and Elizabeth, both widowed and with nearly-grown children, give this a read. Fair warning, it is not entirely clean.

Miss Elizabeth Bennet is pleased with the state of her life. She lives with her sister and her sister’s husband, Mr. and Mrs. Bingley, and she dotes on her niece and nephew. She doesn’t long for a husband or children of her own. To do so would only bring her misery. Then news reaches them which tears Elizabeth’s contentment to shreds. Mrs. Caroline Darcy is dead. She’s drowned herself. Everyone has long observed the late Mrs. Darcy’s dissatisfaction with her loveless, childless marriage, so the news, while tragic, is not entirely surprising. Elizabeth knows that Caroline trapped her husband into marrying her by falsely accusing him of a compromise that never occurred. Of course, that truth has never mattered, nor has the fact that Mr. Darcy is still in love with Elizabeth and that she is in love with him. Now, Mr. Darcy is free, but propriety dictates that he cannot remarry immediately. A quick marriage would court scandal and it would wound Caroline’s brother, Mr. Bingley, who is also Mr. Darcy’s dear friend. So, though Elizabeth knows that Mr. Darcy will be hers eventually, they cannot be officially engaged yet. Now, they must wait. For these two who have waited so long for each other, the waiting will prove to be the hardest part. Read this variation if you like our dear couple angsty and yearning, and if you’re amenable to a steamy culmination to all that tension.

But once he's seen her, he feels compelled to talk to her, and from there he's unable to fight the overwhelming desire to be near her, or the ever-growing mutual attraction that is between them... What if...Mr. Darcy's intentions were shockingly dishonorable...
