Curatorship

Film Curatorship is an experiment: a collective text, a montage of dialogues, conversations, and exchanges among four professionals representing three generations of film archivists and curators. It calls for an open philosophical and ethical debate on fundamental questions the profession must come to terms with in the twenty-first century.

Based on original contributions by specialists, this manual covers both the theory and the practice required in the management of museums. It is intended for all museum and art gallery profession staff, and includes sections on new technology, marketing, volunteers and museum libraries.

Kavanagh offers a framework for current and future museum action and argues the case for imaginative, relevant curatorship, responsive to the evidence of social change. She also argues for a more caring and cooperative relationship with the public and with museum visitors.

Curatopia explores how curating globally is being (re)conceptualised through engagement with indigenous people in the Pacific and collections and exhibitions in Euro-American institutions.
