'D.R.E.A.M.C.H.A.S.E.R: 8 Ways to Make it Happen'. Its aimed primarily at young people and uses examples of contemporary popular culture to hopefully inspire and motivate. I make references to song lyrics, movie quotes, biographical references from celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce, Rihanna, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Jordan, J.K Rowling, Lady Gaga and Jay-Z to name but a few, in an attempt to inspire, awaken, empower and help people take action towards the realisation of their dreams. I decided to use examples of celebrities who have experienced real setbacks in their personal and professional lives but went on to achieve an extraordinary amount of success. These celebrities have been specifically chosen to relate to a youth audience and the book is written in a language and in a context that should also appeal to this audience. I want the youth of today to aspire to greatness but also see the truth behind greatness...that many of the people we view as 'the greats' have had enormous setbacks which could easily have made them give up on their dreams but their self belief, strong work ethic, determination and desire to achieve them helped them overcome these obstacles. I have a Learning Disability and Dyslexia. Most of the time I felt like I wasn't normal. I don't think I'll ever be normal. Compared to everybody I felt like an outsider. Kids would always ask why are you in those extra classes and getting extra help? This led to a lot of unwanted attention. That led to more unwanted feelings, embarrassment, and a lack of confidence in myself, which still affects me to this day at 28. There was no light at the end of the tunnel for me. It was pitch black and went on and on. As the tunnel kept going, I started to get a little darker and deader inside. In the last few years, I have started to see light at the end of the tunnel. I can run away with my tail between my legs, or suck it up and fight back for once in my life and keep going through the darkness. Average or below average has been what I thought of myself my whole life. I'm now aiming for something bigger and better than average. In the last five years, I have read over 50 books and in the last seven written four books. I decided to turn the page in my own book and turn my lack of skills in reading and writing into a new strength. Life is not a guarantee and life is short.
