Disminuir El Abandono Escolar Y Mejorar La Persistencia

El abandono escolar de los estudios, más allá de reflejar los condicionantes familiares, sociales y económicos que inciden en la formación, revela la incapacidad de los sistemas educativos para hacer realidad las expectativas e ilusiones de muchos de los estudiantes que transitan por el mismo. La inexistencia o baja eficacia de adecuados procesos de orientación y tutoría antes, durante y al finalizar los estudios, procesos de transición escolar poco conectados, mecanismos de soporte insuficientes para disminuir el fracaso escolar, profesorado poco implicado en las tareas de apoyo al estudiante o sistemas educativos más centrados en la selección que en el éxito del alumnado pueden explicar, que no justificar, la bolsa de jóvenes que fracasan en los estudios, que algunos los abandonen, y la pérdida de recursos invertidos en formación. El problema es más grave cuando hablamos de Abandono Educativo temprano (AET), que sigue siendo uno de los grandes retos de la sociedad. Identificado como uno de los factores de riesgo, exclusión y vulnerabilidad con más repercusión en los contextos educativos (a nivel nacional y europeo), su incidencia se traduce en sociedades menos equitativas, considerándose un fenómeno económico y social importante por su impacto en el individuo, la sociedad y la economía en general. El presente texto plantea, desde una perspectiva europea y con referencias al sistema educativo español, las actuaciones a realizar por las organizaciones educativas ante el reto inclusivo que supone hacer frente al abandono escolar en las diferentes etapas educativas.
