Across the South Asian region, water determines livelihoods and in some cases even survival. However, water also creates exclusions. Access to water, and its social organisation, are intimately tied up with power relations. This book provides an overview of gender, equity and water issues relevant to South Asia. The essays empirically illustrate and theoretically argue how gender intersects with other axes of social difference such as class, caste, ethnicity, age and religion to shape water access, use and management practices. Divided into six thematic sections, each of which starts with an introduction of relevant concepts, debates and theories, the book looks at laws and rights; policies; technologies and intervention strategies. In all, the book clearly shows how understanding and changing the use, distribution and management of water is conditional upon understanding and accommodating gender relations. Published by Zubaan.

With the publications of the International subarachnoid aneurysm trial (ISAT), endovascular treatment has become one of the most important treatments of intracranial aneurysms, and was used more and more in clinic settings. However, intracranial complex aneurysms (such as giant aneurysms, wide-necked aneurysms, fusiform aneurysms and dissecting aneurysms) still impose a huge challenge for clinicians. Flow diverter (FD) is a novel device for the treatment of aneurysms based on the understanding of hemodynamic mechanism of aneurysm occlusion. It could divert the blood flow from the aneurysm neck, and promote aneurysm occlusion without inserting coils into the aneurysms. In addition, the FDs had the advantage of simplifying the procedure and relieving the mass effect.

"In this volume are collected all of the interstate compacts presently in force among States of the American Union which apportion or govern the consumptive use of the waters of interstate streams, which have to do with the prevenion or amelioration of pollution of such waters, or which deal with the control of floods and problems associated therewith. This volume also includes, either by reference or in full text, all those like compacts which, though ratified by at least one State, did not come into force because of the failure of ratification by another party or because the consent of the Congress was not given. In addition, there are collected in it the treaties between the United States and Canada or Mexico and the decisions of the United States Supreme Court in interstate litigation which cover the three subjects outlined above."--Page iii.
