Through nine outstanding editions, Rutherford's Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy has been the gold standard text in this fast-changing, complex field. Published in association with the Society for Vascular Surgery, this state-of-the-art reference by Drs. Anton N. Sidawy and Bruce A. Perler is a must-have for vascular surgeons, interventionalists, vascular medicine specialists, and trainees, as well as general surgeons, interventional radiologists, and cardiologists that depend upon "Rutherford’s" in their practice. It offers authoritative guidance from the most respected and innovative global thought leaders and clinical and basic science experts in the diagnosis and treatment of circulatory disease. Incorporates medical, endovascular, and surgical treatment, as well as diagnostic techniques, decision making, and fundamental vascular biology. Features all vascular imaging techniques, offering a non-invasive evaluation of both the morphology and hemodynamics of the vascular system. Provides unparalleled insight from multidisciplinary leaders worldwide, who share their expertise on the most appropriate contemporary and future treatment of circulatory disease. Employs a full-color layout and images so you can view clinical and physical findings and operative techniques more vividly. As research in liver disease has greatly expanded over the past few decades the etiology, pathology, and natural history of many hepatic disorders have been clearly defined. Many new and accurate diagnostic tools are now available. In spite of all this progress the treatment of many liver diseases remains ameliorative. Nevertheless a more aggressive and successful surgical approach has taken place in regard to many diseases of the liver in part due to the pioneering work of Dr. William P. Longmire, Jr. and his colleagues. Dr. Longmire was among the early advocates of liver resection of neoplasms, successfully remov ing a large benign tumor of the liver in 1946. In the following decades his contributions covered the surgical treatment of trauma, tumors, cysts, and other congenital abnormalities. He has performed hundreds of operations on patients with these disorders. In 1948 he reported a procedure now named for him, in which intractable common duct obstruction was relieved by partial left hepatectomy and cholan giojejunostomy. He was one of the first to advocate side-to-side portacaval shunt for portal hypertension. Other essential contributions by this master surgeon were the periodic reviews that covered the advances in his field. Dr. Longmire, with his scholarly approach and broad background of knowl edge in all aspects of hepatic surgery, is exceptionally qualified to write this book. He and his colleague, Dr. Ronald K. Tompkins, are to be congratulated on this complete treatise.

This book is intended as a definitive, state of the art guide to robotic surgery that summarizes the field for surgeons at all levels. More specifically, its goals are threefold: to review the basics of robotic surgery, including fundamental principles, technology, operating room setup, and workflow; to describe and illustrate the procedures most commonly performed in a robotic operating room; and to discuss key issues relating to cost, adoption, and training. Procedures from many surgical disciplines are included, which will aid robotic surgeons in supervising and assisting colleagues in these disciplines and simultaneously heighten their awareness of the tricks and tools used in other disciplines that can be retasked for their own purposes. In addition, the future prospects for robotic surgery, including anticipated developments in equipment, are discussed. The Textbook and Atlas of Robotic Surgery will be an excellent aid for residents and fellows entering the field, as well as a welcome update on recent progress for practicing robotic surgeons and an ideal primer for senior surgeons adapting these new technologies to their current practice.
