Envisioning The Future Of Education Through Design

This book identifies the educational problems and issues that could be solved by design and discusses how to overcome these challenges by adopting a design thinking approach. The chapters cover topics such as opportunities and challenges for the futures of education, the emerging models of design thinking for education, learning activity design, educational design for learning with special needs, designing learning spaces of the future, designing the classroom of the future, the design of authentic learning, and design of elderly education. It aims to assist educators and various stakeholders (e.g., administrators, practitioners, researchers, teachers, and students) in the educational field to realize the importance of design in education and enables them to use design and design thinking to overcome the educational challenges to achieve sustainable development.

Envisioning the Future of Learning for Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship outlines the work and findings of the Erasmus+ VISION research project. Education is changing and teachers and students around the world are reshaping it. This book is designed to help educators, policy makers and stakeholders from industry and society at large navigate the changing landscape of education for creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship (CIE). Built on insights from more than 250 experts, the book presents a learning landscape that captures today’s shifts within CIE education and proposes guidance and potential pathways for those involved in the field. The book shows that the landscape of education for CIE is influenced by: Learning as an immersive experience driven by play and experimentation The rise in on the job education and learning by doing as part of life-long upskilling Teachers’ roles evolve to be coaches and mentors developing hard and soft skills Numerous images are included in the book using the technique of visual thinking, stimulating imagination, creativity and innovation.

This book shares insights into the various ways technology can be used for educational purposes, utilizing an approach suitable for both novice and advanced practitioners in this niche area. It features selected papers presented at the International Conference on e-Learning 2015 (ICeL 2015), where professionals discussed how technology can not only serve as a tool in the classroom, but as the classroom itself. As the title “Envisioning the Future of Online Learning” suggests, this book showcases current best practices in the field of e-learning, where technology has been leveraged to re-engineer the landscape of education, particularly in the context of Malaysia.

On November 13 and 14, 2018, members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education participated in a joint workshop with affiliates of the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education. The workshop participants explored the intersection of health professions education and practice. Both sectors are working toward the same goal of improving the health of patients and populations, without compromising the mental stability and wellbeing of the workforce or its learners. However, while education and practice have the same goal, there is a need for greater alignment between the sectors to more fully realize these desired outcomes. For example, educators, practitioners, and administrators must learn to adapt and respond to the growing role of technology within a wider context, in order to most effectively apply higher education within health systems. This publication summarizes the presentations and discussions from the workshop.
