First published in 1909, “Morning and Evening Thoughts” is a collection of inspirational thoughts and insights intended to be read in the morning and evening. They are based on the teachings espoused by the New Thought movement, a movement originating from 19th century United States predicated upon the ideas that God exists everywhere, sickness originates in the mind, and that thinking “correctly” has the ability to heal. Contents include: “First Morning”, “First Evening”, “Second Morning”, “Second Evening”, “Third Morning”, “Third Evening”, “Fourth Morning”, “Fourth Evening”, etc. James Allen (1864–1912) was a British writer most famous for his inspirational poetry and being an early leader of the self-help movement. “As a Man Thinketh” (1903), his best known work, has been a significant source of inspiration for many self-help authors.
