Family Letters Of Wilhelmina Boehm Ney 1835 1923

Wilhelmina Boehm was born in Saxony in 1835 and came to America as a girl. At 18 she was married to Fred Ney, aged 21, in Arnheim, Ohio. Fred and Minna farmed first in Ohio, and then in Illinois, and then in Louisiana. Their family grew to eleven sons and daughters, forty grandchildren, and a lot of great-grand-children. In their old age they went to live with a daughter in Medford, Oklahoma, where Fred died in 1919 at the age of 87, and Minna in 1923, also at 87. Most of the letters in this volume were written by Minna from Medford to her daughter Eliza Hagius, but it includes also a number of other family letters and documents. The letters give a day-to-day picture of farm life in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and what it was to live through World War I and the Spanish Influenza epidemic. They also portray the progress of a large family as it spread westward to the Pacific, and moved off the farm and into the towns and cities.

In the Third Reich, political dissidents were not the only ones liable to be punished for their crimes. Their parents, siblings and relatives also risked reprisals. This concept - known as Sippenhaft – was based in ideas of blood and purity. This definitive study surveys the threats, fears and infliction of this part of the Nazi system of terror.

Robert Treloar and Alice John were married in 1574 at Wendron, Cornwall, England. They had eleven children, 1573-1588/9, all born at Wendron. Their descendant, Bennet Treloar, was born in 1781 at Wendron, the son of James Treloar (1744-1824). He married Ann Tremaine (1789-1872) in 1810 at Wendron. They had thirteen children, 1811-1834. Bennet and Ann Treloar and some of their children immigrated to the United States in 1853. He died at Linden, Wisconsin, in 1853. She died at the home of her daughter at Ogden, Iowa. Descendants listed lived in Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Cornwall, England, and elsewhere. Record chiefly follows line of descent to the author, Dr. Orson Lee Treloar. He was born in 1901 at Ogden, Iowa. He married twice and was the father of five children. Descendants listed lived in Iowa, Colorado, Utah, Ohio, and elsewhere. He was living at Afton, Wyoming, when the book was published.
