This book is a comprehensive study and discussion about the functioning of the Regional Public Libraries in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It has laid its major emphasis on the functioning of the Regional Public Libraries, functioning and the views of the commissioner of public libraries, renowned libraries of different Regional Public Libraries in the state. This book gives an understanding between the functioning of Regional Public Libraries and social issues, different social aspect and their influence on the society. It discusses about public libraries movement in Andhra Pradesh and their present need. And also reviews earlier studies and methodology. The main feature of the book is which library is beneficial for the user especially in the Indian scenario. Public libraries or electronic librariesboth libraries work. A public library working under the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) and an e-library were established under the Sarve Shiksha Mission under the project of GIAN (General Information Access Network) in 2002. The study gave comprehensive information about both libraries and also compared different areas and gave historical background on public libraries in India and also electronic libraries. Which types of collection are available, the status of manpower, infrastructure, services provided to the user, and other related areas and uses by both libraries gave some suggestions to improve the present conditions of existing libraries.

In India, since the beginning of the 20th century, the 'library movement' has become an important social movement, and in particular, within the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, carving out for itself a significant and prominent place in the annals of library development. This book examines the origins, aims, and objectives of the library movement, and the development and spread of the movement in the three regions of Coastal Andhra, Raalaseema, and Telangana. As a result of Andhra Pradesh Public Libraries Act 1960, a network of public libraries have been functioning within the state, including the State Central Library, regional libraries, libraries at the district level, village libraries, book deposit centers, and mobile libraries. The book provides glimpses of the activities of various types of these libraries. It also looks at: recommendations by library committees, the state of affairs of private libraries in Andhra Pradesh, and the role played by professional associations and organizations in public library development. Finally, the book offers details on Indian institutions concerned with library and information science education.
