Curriculum of Global Migration and Transnationalism seeks to address the question: "What is the curriculum of global/transnational migration?". The authors in this collection explore the multifaceted implications of movement for curriculum, teaching and learning, teacher education, cultural practice, as well as educational research and policy. In this book, the authors consider the following, among other questions: is the current experience of global/transnational mobility and/or migration really a new phenomenon, or is it an extension of existing processes and dynamics (e.g. colonialism, capitalism, imperialism)? What does global/transnational mobility imply for schools and other educational institutions and processes as spatially located entities? What approaches to curriculum are needed in the constantly shifting context of global movement? How are the "global" and "local" re-imagined through the experiences of mobility and migration? This book was originally published as a special issue of Curriculum Inquiry.

How do migrants describe themselves and their experiences? As the world faces a migration crisis, there is an enhanced need for educational responses to the linguistic and cultural diversity of student bodies, and for consideration of migrant students at all levels of the curriculum. This book explores the stories of over 70 migrants from 41 countries around the world and examines the language they use when talking about their move to a new country and their experiences there. The book interprets common themes from the stories using metaphor and metonymy analysis to lead to more nuanced understandings of migration that have implications for language teachers. The stories also dispel many stereotypes relating to migration, serving as a reminder to us all to consider our own language when talking about this complex subject.

The enormous increase in the number of migrant and refugees in many nations has also complicated citizenship acquisition for marginalized populations. In this book, scholars working in civic education from selected nations share perspectives, policies, research, and strategies for constructing and implementing civic education programmes that will help students from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and religious groups attain political efficacy and become structurally integrated and fully participating citizens of their nation-states.
