Everyone who reads the Bible must admit that it tells us to do things that we never have done and cannot do in our fleshly bodies. One reason is that God our Creator is telling us what He wants us to be and do as created in His image and likeness. Our purpose is in our image and likeness of God our Creator, not like the dust of the ground or the flesh of our parents. Most children don’t know that they are created in the image and likeness of God, and their parents have not asked God for His spirit for their children so they can be taught this vital truth. The reason parents don’t ask God for His spirit for their children is because they don’t recognize the need for Him. There are several things mankind cannot do in the flesh, and they must recognize their origin in the image and likeness of God. Mankind must recognize being in the image and likeness of God to, first, love God with all their being and love his neighbors as himself; second, to obey God and his parents as required in God’s word; third, to trust God with all his heart; fourth, to worship God in spirit and in truth; and fifth, to glorify God in his body and spirit, which are God. The devil does not want mankind to know that he is created in the image and likeness of God because man will always defeat Satan and fulfill God's will.

In this edition of the award-winning best seller, more than 20 influential men and women such as John Piper, Wayne Grudem, D. A. Carson, and Elisabeth Elliot offer thought-provoking essays responding to the challenge egalitarianism poses to life in the church and in the home. When religion meets comedy, it can get very interesting. So you thought the Bible was all about Jesus but then you tried to read it and found it full of genealogies and repetitions and wars and you could not get past Leviticus? What? You don't know who Leviticus was? That's alright. If you can't read the Bible cover to cover, you're a very normal person. And if you can't reconcile Sunday school with the real Bible, then you should read this book. The Bible is a combination of many things: *the product of thousands of years of folklore. *a bitter frustration with the Jewish captivity in Babylon and an attempt to make sense of it. *an ancient way of recording history (which is to say, not a history). *some beautiful poems. *some humorous tales. It is the last point that the author focuses on. There is humor in the stories of the Bible. Some or most of it is unintentional, but it is amazing what hindsight can do. This book condenses the narrative in a shocking or congenial way, depending on your point of view.

Skeptics like to point out the apparent contradictions that exist in the Creation Account to prove the biblical text is not reliable. Here, for the first time since the Early Church lost The Apostolic Teaching, is an explanation of that account that not only makes sense; it also agrees completely with things the Early Church Father Irenæus wrote in his monumental second-century work, "Against Heresies."

In the book of Ephesians, the church is revealed as the assembly, the household, the Body of Christ, and the new man. The church as the Body of Christ needs Christ as its life, whereas the Church as the new man, the highest aspect of the church, needs Christ as its person. According to Colossians 3:10-11, Christ is all and in all in the new man; thus, in the new man, there is no room for natural persons, culture, status, or ethics. In the new man there is only one person—Christ.
