The HTA Unit moved from Alberta Health and Wellness to the Foundation late in 1995 and although the processes for the Unit's operations have been refined in the ensuing 10 years, much has remained the same. [...] Report of Activities for 2004-2005 INTRODUCTION This report provides a comprehensive description of the products, services, and activities of the Health Technology Assessment Unit for the 2004-2005 fiscal year. [...] Determining the appropriate level of response to a request takes into account: the purpose of the request; the impact of the technology; availability of the technology, variability in the utilization of the technology or management of a medical condition; alternative sources of information including other assessments; timelines for completion; feasibility considering the time and resources require [...] The role of this advisory committee is to provide advice on health technology assessment issues related to medical devices and health systems and services for the Ministries of Health in Canada, and the CCOHTA board and staff.

Developing a Dream Destination is an interpretive history of tourism and tourism policy development in Hawai‘i from the 1960s to the twenty-first century. Part 1 looks at the many changes in tourism since statehood (1959) and tourism’s imprint on Hawai‘i. Part 2 reviews the development of public policy toward tourism, beginning with a story of the planning process that started around 1970—a full decade before the first comprehensive State Tourism Plan was crafted and implemented. It also examines state government policies and actions taken relative to the taxation of tourism, tourism promotion, convention center development and financing, the environment, Honolulu County’s efforts to improve Waikiki, and how the Neighbor Islands have coped with explosive tourism growth. Along the way, author James Mak offers interpretations of what has worked, what has not, and why. He concludes with a chapter on the lessons learned while developing a dream destination over the past half century.

New technologies with the potential to improve the health of populations are continuously being introduced. But not every technological development results in clear health gains. This Annual Report of the Department of Defense (DoD) Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense Program, or CBRNDP, provides information in response to several reporting requirements. First, this report is provided in accordance with 50 USC 1523. (The complete reporting requirement is detailed at annex K.) This report is intended to assess: (1) the overall readiness of the Armed Forces to fight in a chemical-biological warfare environment and steps taken and planned to be taken to improve such readiness; and, (2) requirements for the chemical and biological warfare defense program, including requirements for training, detection, and protective equipment, for medical prophylaxis, and for treatment of casualties resulting from use of chemical and biological weapons. This report supplements the DoD Chemical and Biological Defense Program FY05 President's budget, February 2004, which has been submitted to Congress.
