This episode of Hunt-U.S. Marshal leads Hunt on various duties as he visits other U.S. Marshal Offices. Hunt makes plans to open a new office and runs into problems when he tries to fill the positions. U.S. Marshals don't want to lose their people and have them replaced with new recruits. Hunt rides with some men on a detail in West Virgina and ends up involved in a shootout. Hunt discovers a Deputy Marshal that he is sure would make a great Marshal and runs into some resistance when the job is offered. Hunt visits Atlanta, and while he still has a few days to spare, he decides to travel south and check on Earl in Orlando.

Hunt continues his search for new deputies to replace the men he is losing Jewels, Elizabeth, Bill, and Langley, join up with the other U.S. Deputy Marshals and head for Oregon. Dodd's cabin is finished, but Dodd appears to be dragging his feet to take advantage of his new home. Hunt sends his new man, Duke, with the men on a mission, unsure of how Duke will perform. Hunt's men are sent far and wide to find killers and thieves while Hunt is left alone to face an angry killer that has come to Denver to single out Hunt for revenge.

Harold Vance, from the Chicago Academy, is sent to Denver to replace Bob Rolling, a U.S. Deputy Marshal that was killed on a recent mission. U.S. Deputy Marshal Kelly Morrison is left to guard to prisoners and ends up in a barn during a deadly shootout when men show up to meet the two prisoners that Kelly is guarding. Judge Moore comes to Hunt and requests that Hunt and his men travel to Utah to confront and capture a gang of outlaws that murdered a long time friend and fellow judge, a court deputy, two attorneys, and a coach driver to release a condemned prisoner. The journey ends up with another wounded Deputy Marshal, and Hunt encounters another man that he tries to recruit into the Marshal Service.

This adventure of Hunt-U.S. Marshal is filled with drama, excitement, and suspense. Hunt is notified that he is receiving a new man to replace, Dodd. Hunt is warned that the new man has a problem with authority, and knows he will have to straighten him out fast if he has any chance of making it as a U.S. Deputy Marshal. Hunt leads his men to Idaho territory where they are searching for two mountain men that are leading a band of Indians and are actively raiding wagon trains and murdering other mountain men for their horses, furs, and supplies. Hunt encounters an angry Shoshone Chief that demands he surrender his horse and Gray Wolf in exchange for safe passage out of their territory. Horse returns from a mission and discovers his mother is missing. Anger sets in when he finds out she married a crude mountain man. Horse is angered, and is determined the man. Bekins shocks Hunt when he appears for a visit with his two instructors. The reason for his visit stuns Hunt, and he is devastated by the loss. Hunt's men must go to a ranch to arrest a man where it has been warned that any lawman will be shot on sight. Other marshals are sent to arrest a crazed madman that declares he is, Satan's Angel.

The Hunt Series continues after graduation from the U.S. Marshal Services training. Hunt stops off in Kansas City while traveling to Denver and finds his friend, U.S. Deputy Marshal Burns shot by a sniper. Hunt gets permission to investigate and solve the crime before continuing on to Denver where he soon earns a reputation as a man that gets the job done by helping solve the murders of two U.S. Deputy Marshals and a string of other murders and robberies.
