This entertaining and enlightening book by the founder of Ziva Meditation—the favorite training for high achievers—will finally take meditation mainstream. In our high-stress, overworked lives, we think the answer to accomplishing more is to do more. Is baseball unavoidably a game of failures? The author calls upon a lifetime of experience to answer that question in three parts. One: Failures by hitters on an average team exceed four thousand per season. That number can be reduced by at least 50 percent, drastically reducing the frequency of batting slumps. Two: Failures by starting pitchers can be eliminated. Three: The two biggest on-field problems for managers today are when to pull the starting pitcher and finding a way to get the players to play the game the proper way, and those problems can also be eliminated. If you think these claims are not realistic, be prepared to change your mind. As much as Verle D. Dresback loved baseball through his high school years, it did not love him. However, he was good enough in other sports to receive scholarship offers to play basketball and football at Montana State, the Butte School of Mines and Carol College in Billings, Montana. These three scholarship letters only offered books and tuition. However, he received a fourth letter from the draft board. He chose the Air Force, where he served his country from 1954 to 1974. During the last half of his USAF career, he taught advanced airborne electronic maintenance in the mornings, and coached youngsters in baseball, football and basketball in the afternoons. About the Author: What Verle D. Dresback did during his next twenty-year career makes him uniquely qualified to give advice. When he retired from Ingalls Ship Building in 1994, he was a senior engineer in the reliability section of the engineering department. His credentials include identifying failures and creating solutions. http: //sbpra.com/VerleDDresback

Needless Suffering offers a sociological examination of a complex medical problem: chronic pain and the inability of doctors and other health professionals to understand and manage it in their patients. People in pain, writes Dr. David Nagel, are the poor of the medical world. Like the poor, they are stigmatized and left at the mercy of powerful social actors who tend to work in their own self-interest, frequently at the expense of those they propose to serve. This leaves those who suffer with little control over their own destinies and creates a dysfunctional status quo that harms instead of helps. Drawing on his own experience witnessing his mother's chronic pain and numerous clinical stories from over thirty years' expertise as a pain management specialist, Nagel looks first at patients, their families, and their doctors (usually not trained in pain management), and then broadens his canvas to elaborate a pain power structure that includes the entire healthcare community, insurers, lawyers, government regulators, employers, politicians, law enforcement agencies, and painkilling drugs. Concluding with concrete reforms to create more effective and compassionate pain care, this book is designed for pain patients and their families, healthcare providers, legislators and other public policymakers, judges, personal injury and other attorneys, insurers, government regulators, law enforcement personnel, and health care businesspeople.

Hana Schank had never given much thought to her wedding, or even really imagined herself married, so when she found herself suddenly sporting a brand-new engagement ring she assumed planning a small, low-key wedding would be no big deal. But soon she finds herself adrift in Wedding Land, a world where all brides are expected to want to look like Cinderella, where women plan weddings with fantasy butterfly themes, where a woman's wedding is, without question, the Happiest Day of Her Life. Despite her best efforts not to become a Bridezilla, Hana finds herself transformed from a thirty-year-old woman with a 401(k) into a nearly unrecognizable version of herself as she spends weeks crafting save-the-date cards, worries about matching her cocktails to her wedding colors, and obsessively reads Martha Stewart Weddings magazine. She decides that, if she is going to follow traditions like wearing white and walking down the aisle with flowers, she at least wants to understand why. In her search she turns up interesting wedding facts: bridesmaids, for instance, were originally recruited to confuse evil spirits. Ultimately, she casts a critical eye on the $72 billion wedding industry, from the women at wedding websites who cackle over the etiquette missteps of others to wedding magazines that provide checklists of 187 tasks to plan the perfect wedding, suggesting that to have anything less is to fail as a bride, as a woman, as a wife. Part confessional memoir, part social critique, A More Perfect Union chronicles a year in Wedding Land, capturing as it does not only the stresses but the undoubted joys of becoming a bride.

Needless Suffering But Why? Luis Mashapure The pinnacle of worldly success, as seen in increased knowledge and super industrialization -- Heeh? Today, pretty much all needs of man could be met if we had the resolve. Science and engineering have scaled deeper depths and higher heights while econometricians have developed sophisticated economic models ever. However, because of deeply rooted immoral attitudes and inspite of great knowledge attained, man has preferred to stash over a $1trillion in safe heavens, far away from the reach of the ordinary people. Only 4% of such money - the equivalent of $40bl - we are told - could solve humanity’s basic needs or at least for the world’s 3.6bl poor people. Literally, even all budding social intrapreneurs would get the capital injection they need; people would stretch themselves to innovate in un-imaginable ways. Everything would move and fly – one could say. Alas! Man has failed to share the abundant resources and all gained knowledge is being put to waste. ‘Talking time is over: It’s time to act’.
