These proceedings represent the work of contributors to the 4th International Conference on Gender Research (ICGR 2021), hosted by University of Aveiro, Portugal on 21-22 June 2021. The Conference Co-Chairs are Professor Elisabeth T. Pereira and Professor Carlos Costa, and the Programme Chair is Professor Zélia Breda, all from University of Aveiro, Portugal. ICGR is a well-established event on the academic research calendar and now in its 4th year the key aim remains the opportunity for participants to share ideas and meet the people who hold them. The conference was due to be held at The University of Aveiro, Portugal but due to the global Covid-19 pandemic it was moved online to be held as a virtual event. The scope of papers will ensure an interesting two days. The subjects covered illustrate the wide range of topics that fall into this important and ever-growing area of research. The opening keynote presentation is given by Professor Vanessa Ratten, from La Trobe University, Victoria, Australia on the topic of Gender, Ageing and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems. The second day of the conference will open with an address by Professor Erica Wilson, Southern Cross University, NSW, Australia who will talk about Gender in the time of COVID: Imagining a more Inclusive (Tourism) World. With an initial submission of 113 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 37 Academic research papers, 2 PhD research papers, 1 Masters Research paper and 8 work-in-progress papers published in these Conference Proceedings. These papers represent research from, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria, North Cyprus, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, UK, UAE, USA and Vietnam

The Conference Co-Chairs are Professor Elisabeth T. Pereira and Professor Carlos Costa, and the Programme Chair is Professor Zélia Breda, all from the University of Aveiro, Portugal. ICGR is a well-established event on the academic research calendar, and it is now in its 5th edition. The key aim of the conference is to provide the opportunity for participants to share ideas and cutting edge gender research. This edition aims to promote new insights and discussion about the current global scenario and present different perspectives on how to overcome gender-related unbalances exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The scope of papers will ensure an interesting two-day event of presentations and debate with researchers from diverse backgrounds from around the world. The subjects covered illustrate the wide range of topics that fall into this important and ever-growing area of research. The opening keynote presentation is given by Prof. Dr. Katharina Wrohlich, from the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), Germany, on The Interrelation of Different Gender Gaps on the Labor Market - A European Comparative Perspective. The second day of the conference will open with an address by Professor Emeritus Pat O'Connor, from the University of Limerick, and Visiting Professor at the Geary Institute, University College Dublin, Ireland, who will discuss whether Gendered Power is Irrelevant in Higher Educational Institutions. With an initial submission of 108 abstracts, after the double-blind peer-review process, there are 35 Academic research papers, 2 PhD research papers, 1 Non-Academic paper and 3 work-in-progress papers published in these Conference Proceedings. These papers represent research from academics worldwide, namely from Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and USA.

These proceedings represent the work of researchers participating in the International Conference on Gender Research (ICGR 2018) which is being hosted this year by the ISCAP in Porto, Portugal on 12-13 April 2018. ICGR is a new event on the international research conferences calendar and provides a valuable platform for individuals to present their research findings, display their work in progress and discuss conceptual and empirical advances in the areas surrounding Gender Research. It provides an important opportunity for researchers across a diverse range of fields all looking at aspects relating to Gender to come together with peers to share their varied and valuable experiences. The first day will be opened with a keynote presentation by Bruce I Newman from DePaul University in Chicago, USA who will address the topic Gender and Democracy. In the afternoon, there will be an additional keynote address on Empowering women in the IT/IS research: the importance of role models given by Isabel Ramos from, University of Minho, Portugal. The second day of the conference will be opened by Paola Paoloni from "NiccolÒ Cusano" University, Rome, Italy. Paola will be talking about A Relational Capital Dimension in Universities. In this event, participants will have the opportunity to have access to the latest research and developments concerning Gender Research and after an initial submission of 180 Abstracts, there will be 62 Research Papers, 8 PhD Research Papers, 2 Masters Papers, 1 Non-Academic and 4 Work in Progress Paper published in these Conference Proceedings. The Conference Chair is Professor Sandra Moffett, and the Programme Co-Chair Dr Shirley Barrett are from Ulster University, Magee Campus, Northern Ireland and the second Co-Chair, Dr. Andrea Reid is from Ulster University, Belfast Campus, Northern Ireland ICGR is a well-established event on the academic research calendar and now in its 6th year the key aim remains the opportunity for participants to share ideas and meet the people who hold them. The scope of papers will ensure an interesting two days. The subjects covered illustrate the wide range of topics that fall into this important and ever-growing area of research. The opening keynote presentation is given by Professor Maura McAdam, from Dublin City University, Ireland, on the topic of Permission Granted: A Manifesto for Female-Centric Entrepreneurship. The second day of the conference will open with an address by Darren McKinstry, Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, who will talk about Gender Equality in Northern Ireland: Context, Priorities and Opportunities. With an initial submission of 105 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 33 Academic research papers, 3 PhD research papers, 2 Masters Research papers and 3 work-in-progress papers published in these Conference Proceedings. These papers represent research from Austria, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Pakistan, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States of America.

This edited volume analyzes how the COVID-19 crisis could be transformed into opportunities for those organizations that correctly interpret the change, adapt their strategies accordingly, and increase their chances of success in a post-pandemic scenario. Through this lens, the female role and contribution to recovery are analyzed and discussed in the economic, financial and social context. Even if many aspects set the COVID-19 crisis apart from the latest global financial crises – such as the unusual shutdown of businesses in specific sectors, social distancing regulations, and general uncertainty sparked by the pandemic – the challenges facing all organizations in the current recovery phase can present an opportunity for extraordinary growth and development in Europe. The focus of the contributions gathered here is not on “counting” the damages and losses but rather on monitoring the recovery and on emerging instruments to support national and global economic recovery, while paying special attention to women’s role in it.
