Buildings protect us, help us and inspire us, but do you ever wonder what they would say if they could talk? Do they have feelings? Are they happy to see us? Does it hurt when we stomp? This imaginative children's book contemplates what would happen if the buildings that surround us suddenly piped up to tell us what's on their minds. Written by Nikki Clinton and illustrated by 14 designers and architects, If Buildings Could Talk invites kids of all ages to ponder the conversations they might have with the architecture in their lives.The architecture industry has a pipeline problem and we feel there's no better way to create opportunities than by inspiring our youth. That's why some of Little's most talented creatives came together to write and illustrate this imaginative children's book. All proceeds from the book will go toward funding architecture and design mentoring programs focused on educating, empowering and supporting underrepresented youth to pursue a career in design.

Through a range of ethnographic case studies focusing on the Portuguese recovery after the economic crisis, this book begins a conversation about the experience of recuperation and repair. Located in the cracks and gaps between the state and society, recuperation appears as a social and infrastructural answer linked to reciprocity, critical urbanity, generational interweaving, alternate ordering and reconnection of different bodies and histories. With chapters looking at public art in Lisbon and recuperative modes of action, this collection takes a thorough look at a society in crisis and shows how the people of the community create micro-politics of resistance. Ultimately, Politics of Recuperation reflects on the meaning of personal and collective resilience in Europe today, as well as on the limits and interstices of contemporary politics.

Bringing together the reflections of an architectural theorist and a philosopher, this book encourages philosophers and architects, scholars and designers alike, to reconsider what they do as well as what they can do in the face of challenging times. It does so by exploring the notion that architecture and design can (and possibly should), in their own right, make for a distinctive form of ethical investigation. The book is less concerned with absolutist understandings of the two components of ethics, a theory of ‘the good’ and a theory of ‘the right’, than with remaining open to multiple relations between ideas about the built environment, design practices and the plurality of kinds of human subjects (inhabitants, individuals and communities) accommodated by buildings and urban spaces. The built environment contributes to the inculcation of all sorts of values (good and bad). Thus, this book aims to change the way people commonly think about ethics, not only in relation to the built environment, but to themselves, their ways of thinking and modes of behaviour.
