Internet Of Vehicles Technologies And Services

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 5th International Conference on the Internet of Vehicles, IOV 2018, which took place in Paris, France, in November 2018. This year’s theme was “Technologies and Services Towards Smart City”. The 21 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 41 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections named: IoV communications and networking; IoV clouds and services; vehicular modeling and simulation; and vehicular security and privacy.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on Internet of Vehicles, IOV 2016, held in Nadi, Fiji, in December 2016. The 22 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 55 submissions. IOV 2016 is intended to play an important role for researchers and industry practitioners to exchange information regarding advancements in the state of art and practice of IOV architectures, protocols, services, and applications, as well as to identify emerging research topics and define the future directions of IOV.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 6th International Conference on the Internet of Vehicles, IOV 2019, which took place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in November 2019. The 23 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 101 submissions. The papers focus on providing new efficient solutions with digital intervehicular data transfer and overall communications. Yet, IOV is different from Telematics, Vehicle Ad hoc Networks, and Intelligent Transportation, in which vehicles like phones can run within the whole network, and obtain various services by swarm intelligent computing with people, vehicles, and environments.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the first International Conference on Internet of Vehicles, IOV 2014, held in Beijing, China, in September 2014. The 41 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 160 submissions. They focus on the following topics: IOV systems and applications; wireless communications, ad-hoc and sensor networks; security, privacy, IoT and big data intelligence; cloud and services computing.

This book presents an overview of the latest smart transportation systems, IoV connectivity frameworks, issues of security and safety in VANETs, future developments in the IoV, technical solutions to address key challenges, and other related topics. A connected vehicle is a vehicle equipped with Internet access and wireless LAN, which allows the sharing of data through various devices, inside as well as outside the vehicle. The ad-hoc network of such vehicles, often referred to as VANET or the Internet of vehicles (IoV), is an application of IoT technology, and may be regarded as an integration of three types of networks: inter-vehicle, intra-vehicle, and vehicular mobile networks. VANET involves several varieties of vehicle connectivity mechanisms, including vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-cloud (V2C), and vehicle-to-everything (V2X). According to one survey, it is expected that there will be approximately 380 million connected cars on the roads by 2020. IoV is an important aspect of the new vision for smart transportation. The book is divided into three parts: examining the evolution of IoV (basic concepts, principles, technologies, and architectures), connectivity of vehicles in the IoT (protocols, frameworks, and methodologies), connected vehicle environments and advanced topics in VANETs (security and safety issues, autonomous operations, machine learning, sensor technology, and AI).
